*How To PLAY *

Just Hold And Drag Then the Electronic Dash !

AND

  • Dash Up

You are moving up super slowly (you even fall a little bit when low energy) if you just let it follow your mouse cursor to move! So Just get enough energy and dash up!

becap9.1.gif

BackGround

You are playing as an Electronic which running out of energy and inside a low battery which is sucking every electronic inside it! You are going to help this poor electronic to escape the battery! a.gif The aim of this game is just dashing up until you reach the end (hold mouse and drag) but every movement cost your energy! The only way to recover it is to take fresh energy from others Electronic's body! capbe4.png

Moreover, in the way you are going up, the closer you near the exit, the more difficulties you need to face! capbe2bar.png Can you make it through and help this poor electronic to escape?

end of intro**

Here is a quick walkthrough with full upgrade

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yxw7w2oofc&t

Tips of playing this game:

  • Just upgrade headbutt first

  • low energy cost slower movement

  • if you are aimming, you will not die of energy losting(there is a little energy losting for every second you are alive),also you may get slow motion according to your matrix level.(default you can go slow motion if you aim and go 0 health.)

Not quite sure what is going on. When I hold the mouse button to aim and release I tend to be pointed down. I have to switch around to go up. This makes aiming difficult. I did not get very far. I enjoyed the art style it is very fun and light hearted.

Thankssss too :DDDDD. Can you tell me what do you mean of "to be pointed down"? Do you mean I sould make some effect on main character so you can easier to locate it when you are aimming? I am sorry my mother language is not English and I don't want to misunderstand your meanings :)

First Big Thanks for playing my game!

@maskinmask
Did you try the new version? Is it still too difficult? If yes, can you say more clear about where is the difficult parts? THANKS!

@ginger9
HAHA I know that! However, when you are dashing, the position of your mouse cursor will not effect the position of the electronic becasue it's dashing! So my way to play is point to the next top target position right after I make the dash(left the mouse button up) !

I think it's a one of the funny part to make the gameplay more compact before I read your comment!

Is that actually a bad thing?:anguished:

Hi, this is a great game made with 24 hours. The instruction is a bit hard to understand but I understand the controls after a while. The controls are actually intuitive and comfortable. The game looks very complete and is quite fun to play. The graphics is impressive and you even managed to have an opening cutscence.
Good job!

I'm pretty sure this is exactly how batteries work, so nice job on scientific accuracy! Also, the game is quite fun! It has a nice quick feel, so you can play a bunch of rounds one after another with a "one more try" sort of vibe. I like the upgrade system and all the faces on everything. The SFX were nice as well.

A very unique idea for a game! The graphics were great as well. I managed to get 75% through the level, and all upgrades. I was a bit confused about what the controller shaking was doing to the game though. It seemed like it was making the game more difficult somehow, but I could not tell in what way it was doing that.

About the screenshake,
First, it shake the screen and disturb your aimming
Second, it increase the falling electronic (both death and alive), you may not feel it because the newest version is easier and I reduce the number of falling death electronic including screen shake falling :joy:

Thank again for playing my game!

Very cool game. The game play is really nice and the graphics are well done.

I found it a bit annoying when the attacking electrons were below me and I wanted to dash them, I got below the screen and died. So I couldn't do anything against them as long as they were below me (which was like most of the time).

Thanks all to playing my game!! That is awesome to see so many comment after I wake up!

However, I **MUST** point out that, the **Guide** you saw is **not** the thing I **made in the 48hrs**, I made it **after jam** and it's only in new version. I am glad many of you love that but I hope you are not going to **overrate** just because the guide!!!! That will be **unfair** to others!
**I made the guide just because I found most the players can't figure out how to play my game.**

Anyway, Thanks again!

@ramou same feeling with your game haha

@smbe19 That's true haha, I always just move a little bit right/left when they are dashing to me (they aim for 1 seoncd), then I immediately dash on him and get his energy.

@stoffe @gurbx glad you love the upgrade system :DD!

Fun game. I played the original compo version and it looks like you might have fixed some of these issues for the updated version already.

First thing, few minor annoyances / quality of life changes. Since it's designed as a mobilesque quick "play, upgrade and play again" type of game, the upgrade screen needs a straight up play again button instead of going through menu. Same for the cutscene. Maybe remember that it was skipped once and automatically skip it after that.

I have no idea why people are calling it too hard (and it looks like you delivered and made to post-compo version easier). I played the so called "hard" version and found it waaay too easy and I even ignored the dashing completely after my third try or so.

And why did I ignore the dashing then? In my opinion the dash direction should be flipped. Lets think you're trying to move towards NW. So obviously your mouse cursor is in the upper left quadrant of the screen. Then if you'd like to dash in that direction, you'd have to move the cursor all the way to the lower right quadrant before dashing. It was way too much work and took so long that it was safer and faster to just keep moving normally. Even in the only dangerous situation in the whole game, while being trapped in the bottom of the screen, the dash was useless. You can't put the cursor under the character when it is in the bottom of the screen so you can't aim the dash upwards at all.

So yeah, after I started ignoring the dashing completely, I got enough points to fully upgrade (the feature I didn't even use) on few tries. And on the last run I intentionally died, it felt like I could have gone on as long as I wanted. It needs some kind of gradual difficulty ramp up. And also needs some kind of scoring to know how far you've made it.

And speaking of going far, the further you play, the more and more the sound effects start getting distorted. I guess you're doing something wrong with the sounds here.

And by the way, I still have no idea what the icons on the right side of the screen were.

edit: After reading the description, I see that the icons were the progress meter. Tried again and it moves super slow. Maybe even the audio distortion thing was intentional and had something to do with the progress. Though it was a bug because it started sound more and more annoying.

@antti-haavikko Really Big Thanks for playing my game seriously and give the longest comment ever!

But after I saw your last sentence, do you know that you the bar in right bar is the process bar and you must dash to really move upward to go the top place to escape because there is gravity and your character don't really have enough speed to move up? If you don't know, that's really my fault, that's why I made a post-compo version and post a new guide there!

The sound is also my problem, I should write something like {sound.pitch = 1* Random.Range(0.8,1.2)} but I don't know why I write {sound.pitch *= Random.Range(0.8,1.2)}, it's fix in new version too!

I will do a longer reply on each point,

Really appreciate that you spend time on my game and do a long reply!!! :kissing_heart:

03. Aug 2017 · 10:37 UTC
Haha yeah, as I stated in the edit that you probably didn't see yet, I did the usual thing and only read the instruction after playing :D

Dunno how far I made it on my furthest try but I didn't really notice difficulty ramp up at all. And I must have played for at least 10 minutes just gently floating up (no real issues with the gravity) bumping on the yellow bolts.

And yes, I like to leave long and detailed feedback. Sometimes it might seem that I'm only criticizing the games but I think it is more valuable to know what could be improved. The jams are all about the learning experience after all (in my opinion at least).
🎤 GoldRanger
03. Aug 2017 · 11:20 UTC
You say " (no real issues with the gravity) " because the character moving up speed ~= falling speed, but your target point is on way far top! Therefore, when only you dash up, your speed really > falling speed and you actually climb up!

Also, if you don't feel difficulty ramp up, it may mean that you didn't reach the difficulty ramp up point! It ramp up every 20% of your process and you can how far you go check on the process bar!

Anyway, thanks for coming back! criticizing is always not to problem, it's only a game jam! there should be criticizing! And that's why I am so nervous when I saw you misunderstand my game! It's because you are really pointing out the point I should improve! (i.e.automatically skip button) That's what I want to see!! Thank you so much!
Antti Haavikko
03. Aug 2017 · 11:34 UTC
You can try it yourself, if you just float up all the time there is slow progress on the meter. But yeah, I guess dashing up would make the progress faster. Makes sense.
🎤 GoldRanger
03. Aug 2017 · 11:54 UTC
@antti-haavikko that is one of my setting, your current energy effect your speed, when you are full, you slowly climb up, when you are low ,you slowly fall. (you may not noticed because it really start falling at about 10-20% health if you just point at a upper point of your character, if you let it keep moving left or right, it start falling from about 50% health)

Also, after the second difficult ramb up point, you need to face some enemy and you need to dash to kill them!
![2142342353.PNG](///raw/fff/7/z/8826.png)

Moreover, after the third difficult ramb up point, there are some electric current and you must dash to get enough speed to pass.
![2342342.PNG](///raw/fff/7/z/8825.png)

Therefore, a dash/dash up is a must.

It's a cool mechanic, but I found it really hard. I tend to get stuck off to one side and unable to dash any amount of distance.
🎤 GoldRanger
03. Aug 2017 · 12:20 UTC
@zarkonnen Thanks for playing! Maybe you can try to upgrade "HeadButt", you can destroy the obstacle while dashing(if you dash when touching the obstacle, you still get bounce out)! You will find a different world after upgrade!
Antti Haavikko
03. Aug 2017 · 13:27 UTC
Tried again playing properly this time. And sure, it's a lot harder and more fun like that. And I actually now learned how to use the dash properly too. Earlier I was thinking that the dash direction came from angle between character and release point and instead it is between where I start holding and release. Made it a lot easier to do some sweet dashings :D

Also figured out why I couldn't understand the progress meter at first, when going fullscreen (on the web version) the meter was outside the screen and only the icons for the difficulty checkpoints were visible.

Now I made it to the final stretch above the double bolt icon...

@antti-haavikko Oh my God!!! That's a serious problem! Are you not using 16:9 monitor? I guess you are not the only one effect by that, maybe that's why lots of people can't figure out why my game is doing!

Nah, I'm on a macbook so it's 16:10. You shouldn't really rely on players having specific aspect ratio or resolution. You know you can position UI elements relatively regardless of user display? Like this:

Nice concept, the controls + hecticness of all the objects makes it pretty frantic in the beginning. After a few upgrades it's much more manageable. I think if there was a bigger variety of enemies it could really bump the replayability up a lot. Also the player's decision making would be pretty tested. A great start to an idea!
