Welcome to Trivia Monsters! A mashup of turn-based monster battle (i.e. Pokemon) and trivia! Help Professor Mahogany recover all the stolen Trivia Monsters. Compete against AI in seven diverse categories and prove your intelligence!

Trivia Monsters is a Pokemon-style monster collector with a trivia twist. Random questions are given based on the category of a monster at one of three difficulty levels. The more difficult the question the more damage it does. I'm sure there's more than a few bugs - but everything should work and questions are randomly generated from Open Trivia DB's API, so there's plenty of replay-ability. Good luck and have fun!

I like these simple graphics!

Did you animate the character all yourself? Because if you didn't you are violating the rules.

@krp Sadly, no. The character art/animation are the only elements that I didn't create. I meant to replace them but ran out of time. Since they're standard Unity assets though I thought it'd be okay for submitting.

Went through it and had an enjoyable time. It felt like the answers were equally difficult, regardless of the button picked. Also getting crit on my first hit was a rough way to start, haha! Nicely done.

I'm terrible at trivia games, but this was a rather interesting idea.

A minor point, but I found it confusing figuring out which monster was yours compared to theirs. I also found Professor Mahogany really difficult to beat, since the monster feels like it's dealing 50 damage most of the time.

Anyway, minor polish stuff, but the overall concept feels cool.

This game looks and feels good. The incompatible genres are surprisingly compatible and the turn based trivia attacks work really well. I didn't finish the tutorial and couldn't get the seventh monster anymore. Still had fun and learned some trivia along the way.

Nice game. And it is great that you place your code also. Not offen source code available on lubum.
Thanx and good luck.

Clever combination of ideas - the enemy attacks felt a little unbalanced, but it's still a fun challenge. Nice work.

Great idea! I liked the combination of trivia games and turn-based fighting. It seems like you packed a ton of content into this game over just one weekend, so kudos to you!

Some fast-paced battle music would really complete the atmosphere, I think!

@joe-cowman Thank you! And I totally agree, music was just one of the about 50 things that got cut trying to finish everything for the deadline. 🙃

Starting dialog with the professor seems to sometimes become scrambled, feels 50/50 as to whether it will be legible. Also seems like enemies attack after losing a fight, although I haven't had them hit yet.

Over all very fun pokemon style game. However the art needs a bit of work and the text was a bit small and boring for a game that is very focused on it. I recommend you use the free textmesh pro asset on the unity store. Here's a popular tutorial on how to get started if your interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D33d4w89vTs.
