The Circuit by jchaplin

[raw]
made by jchaplin for LD 39 (COMPO)

(1st Ludum Dare!) You are the orange charge. Avoid the red charge. Use the 1, 2 and 3 keys to move to an adjacent wire while over an electrical arc. Collect sparks and... Don't run out of power!

Control your orange charge as it loops round and round, all the while trying to avoid the red charge. Each loop around will increase the electric current, causing the charges to move faster and faster. Collisions with the red charge will cause you to lose power. Collecting electrical sparks will increase your power. Game is over when you run out of power.

NOTE: The 1, 2 and 3 keys can be pressed while the charge is over the wire... the charge will then move to an adjacent wire when it's over the electrical arc.

Nice game. Enjoyed the mechanics, but the controls seemed a bit awkward. The simple sound effects added to the mood nicely.

Innovative concept!
Love the graphics! Would have loved to have a track in the background but the sound effects make up for it :D
Played the game quite a few times.
Would play it again. Congratulations and good luck! :D

Interesting game, could be a bit difficult to change lines sometimes

Really interesting mechanics, and the game is pretty tough too. After a while of playing can get used to it tho. I believe this would make a really good mobile game if polished.

Nicely thought through and very easy to play. I found myself slightly mesmerised by it :)

Well done.

Nice twist on the theme - "be the power and run away". Easy to pick up and play - tough enough to get a bit addictive - nice work.

Interesting and difficult. I have the feeling that the control does not work all the time. I hit the hell outta the "3"

Great game. I liked the use of the theme and there was a nice element of strategy in the gameplay.

Cool (and HARD!). Nice work on a really original idea. It took me a second to get my bearings, though. Maybe "press any key to start" or something like that?

It took me awhile to realize I couldn't skip over 2 but it became a little easier to manage when I realized that. Hard on the brain but kind of fun.

cool concept , but yea the controls were a bit on the weird side. mainly when dealing with the left and right sides didnt have numbers to help so it was a bit confusing to me. but none the less pretty fun!

Interesting concept! I'd say the graphics could use some improvment. The 1-2-3 buttons took a second to get used to. Great job!

Cool concept, very easy to play. With a little bit of polishing (start menu, controls) it could be an awesome little game.

I agree with @thorneto, it got better when I realised I could skip 2 lines in one go - good fun :)

Reminds me a bit of Slot Racers.

It reminds me of an old Atari 2600 game called Dodge'em. Graphics are crisp and clean. Gameplay is solid. I do have to say it was a bit odd when I started the game as there was no menu and I was immediately in the game. I honestly though it was a demo running until I lost .

The controls were a bit finicky but once I got going I could do OK, it might have been nicer to use arrow keys to switch (double tap for two).

Nice concept! The only thing I would recommend is making the transitions from line to line more evident.

Cute little game. Think maybe two buttons would be enough!

While the controls felt a *little* bit clunky sometimes, and I took some seemingly unavoidable damage, that didn't keep me from enjoying the game. The concept and the mechanics are really neat and clever, and there's a nice difficulty in there. Though really minimalistic, the graphics really helped shape the feel of the game.

Overall, it's a cute game, and you did a great job on it!

it took me a few tries to get the mechanic, but it's not bad. Add some music and a few different courses and you have a good game.

Fun game and interesting concept. Its difficult in a good way
Only problem is that I often missed transition area, maybe some kind visual queue (on hover) would help.
Congrats

Interesting take on a classic concept, a bit hard for me but it's good fun.

Simple game. Quite fun. However I I am not a fan of the controls scheme, I would rather use WASD or arrows for this. It gets really frustrating because of it. Other than that it's very decent and definitely a fun one!
