Hello everyone, this is my team's entry to the LD39 jam! ( @nodex @Krathya @mybs )

In this game you take the role of a wizard that is becoming old and needs a magic mana stone to survive. The stone has been stolen by a dragon (as seen in the loading screen) and the player has to retrieve it before losing all his mana.

To achieve this, you, the wizard, have to beat 3 levels surviving the streets, where people corrupt your mana, and you will need to steal children souls to regenerate it. At the end you will have to recover the stone from the dragon.

The controls are as follows:

  • Arrows to move
  • Space/Enter to accept or go to the next screen
  • 1 to use the lightning strike
  • 2 to use the speed boost

Hope you enjoy it! Here a couple of screenshots:

I don't know how disturbed I should be over how much I enjoyed sucking the souls of all those children who were already on fire ... but the feedback for that, and watching the bar turn green and increase -- extremely satisfying!

The three levels felt rather much alike, with no increase in difficulty or change in surroundings to give me any sense of progression. The ending went towards making up for it, though! I also always felt the screen was too small to use the speed power up. Otherwise I thought I would probably speed right into some enemy that was just outside my field of vision. Great work!

I would suggest zooming the camera out a bit, the sprites seemed rather large and I felt like I couldn't quite see enough of the screen to have any agency.

Had fun with this game, especially zapping people in distress to refill my mana meter.
I would suggest that you adjust the camera a bit, so that it's possible to see a little further forward and zap those burning people faster. Great work!

Nice graphics! The final boss fight was fun. I wish the 3 levels felt unique though. I noticed there were more barrels and more enemies by the 3rd level, but it didn't really make it more challenging. A funny moment I had was when 2 enemies were standing in a row and I zapped them.. only to realize one of the power sources was standing behind them, and that got killed too, hah.

I almost killed the beast! I like the idea and getting from children's souls? Amazing. I would change 2 things: make the camera higher, to let the player make an strategy and put more efford in path making. At the end of the 3rd level it was a little bit repetitive. The boss was so cool. Nice game, good luck!

The theme is awesome, in a really dark way XD. It's one of the more creative concepts I have seen, but just that the camera is too zoomed in. The sprites would look WAY better if they look smaller. The animations are neat too. Just one tip though, you should add a night scene too in case you are thinking of expanding. A night scene would fit way better with the theme. Anyways, its a nice game altogether.

The final boss was absolutely wonderful, enjoyed the game, I would just advise to change the classic mobs texture, that's all I can say, congratulations !

Great game, it was really fun! Loved the fat dragon trying to fly and sweating because of it hahaha.

I think some support for gamepad controls could improve the game experience a lot!

It's not very difficult to setup in Unity (it seems that's what you're using) and you can re-use it for future game jams ;)

The art is awesome, and the animations is great, but i fell like I need something else, and you have no sound, GG to the artist

I really really really liked the wizard sprite! It reminded me of Yoshi's story. Sound would have really brought this game together but I still think the game was fun and satisfying!

Hey! Love the dark fantasy style of your game :jack_o_lantern: Got stuck once (hurt animation didn't end) but played again and it was great. Gameplay is simple and this is good.

I wish you had used something other than children and adults to gain or lose mana: it is really confusing at first and I had to read after playing to read what was going on. Maybe fairies as kids and ghosts as adults? The lightning strike looked like spraying water at first so I tried to cast it to kids to stop them from burning  . The sprites were well done but I think you forgot to add collision to the wells but it was just unimportant detail.

The graphics are really nice. The initial difficulty curve is good.

I would have liked some sounds, but hey it's a jam :)

Love the wizard, didn't found many children, perhaps balance it a bit. But it is a good entry, I enjoyed playing it

Cool graphics! The animations and spells are gorgeous!! The gameplay is interesting, altough I would like a bit more visual feedback when hitting the people with my spells!

Music would have been a great addition!!

Keep up the good work!

Nice little game. The art style is its strong point, is very unique. The gameplay, however, needs some rework. In my opinion, the characters are too big for the screen and make hard to see what is coming (especially in the fight with the dragon). Also, it would be great if the game was more interactive, a.k.a, the spells affect more things that the npcs, like the crates or houses.

The game could be more polished but the art is good. The animation of the mana bar is amazing
