Animal Wrath by Jonathan Lorenz

The animals are running out of space to live because of the humans and their forest-killing machines. Help them get the forest back from the humans... with the power of the giant animals! Tall as a building and strong as a bore!

Animal Wrath is a strategy / puzzle game made with Unity. Music made with Renoise. The 3d models are free assets from the assets store.

I took the theme as an inspiration for the story. I was very inspired by "Into The Breach" for this game. Unfortunately it turns out my knowledges about matrix multiplication were a bit poor so I didn't manage to do everything that was in my mind. But I had fun anyway, and I hope you will too while playing this game!

I saved the forest! The scream of the rabbit has make me laugh. :D
The interpretation of the theme is good. I think it's more a puzzle game than a strategy game, but it's quite cool. With more difficulty and units, it could be quite interesting. Thank for the game!

Fun game. I liked the theming and there were some unexpected twists in the puzzle aspect, that took me a while to figure out (stacking animals and realizing that you don't always have to destroy everything). At first not being able to rotate the animals felt restrictive, but in the end i like it, because it highlights the puzzle-gameplay rather than the strategy one and I think that is the right call here =)

Fun game, I liked the progression and the puzzles were interesting enough. I didn't like the music very much, it was distracting though.

I had a lot of fun. Would be great if one could see a forecast of what the humans are doing. I ended up in this level:

Am I missing some mechanic? I don't know how I can solve this one :P. I can't rotate the animals right? And the only way of winning is to kill the humans? I tried to destroy their houses, but that did not work either :).

This was really fun! I love your progressive design with the puzzles starting from obvious movements to advanced. Great Job on this :D Also, I love the music. Like, I'm still listening to it in my head xD

Thank you guys for taking the time to play and comment!

@unfinished Here's a clue : It's not a bug, it's a feature ;)

I'm so confused :D .. so the message is: if you are an animal, you are screwed anyway? :P

SPOILER :

>You have to stack animals for this level :)
>You can actually put 2 animals on the same spot if you try to click in the corner of the squares :)

Interesting way OF the theme ! I really like this kind of puzzle game ! The screamns of the animals are cool ! The music is good with the graphics, create a mood (not really a forest but why not, it's war after all !). The idea is great ! Great job !
(Without your clue to stack animals, it was hard for me to save the forest xD)

Ok so i really like the idea of making a grid based puzzle game, certainly its very unique! The puzzles are certainly brain scratchers and have a nice progresion so good work there. Your asking to be rated in Graphics but you should opt out since you are cleraly stating you used an asset pack and the ludum rules requests you opt out, the overall look of the game is consistent tho in case you wanted that rated, not a huge fan of that artstyle but its consistent which is what matters(the cars may be different but its not noticeable. The UI also needs some work but its a jam so no biggie, it works as intented.

Overall fine puzzles (catchy music) that are certainly worth the time invested to play it. Gameplay wise the only thing I would suggest is to make clear that stacking animals is not a bug but intended (make them appear smaller and side by side or when you hover the space to move on another animal make it a different color).

Thank you for trying the game guys!

@dreamingdice thank you for your in depth comment! I'm happy that you talked about the graphics!
I asked myself whether or not I should opt out for this category, but I choose to not do it and here's my reflection :

I used 3 assets packs (one for the animals, one for the trees and one for the cars), so yes the 3d models are not from me but I still had to choose and angle of camera, a lightning, a setting of the levels, a way to use thoses assets so they blend in, I created little buildings (which are ugly but still!)...

So I thought that since there are graphical decisions that I have made, I should not opt out for that category ( but of course state what the assets used are.)

So that was my train of thought. What do you guys think about it? Should I opt out for that category next time?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Cheers!

Ahh ok you should make it more clear that the animals will attack. I was very confused on what was going on at first. Interesting music however lol very techno
