That plus the outer space living room really add to the discordant and hectic feeling the game evokes, even ignoring the dozens of children that are prancing around crying. If anything it's better that the characters don't have walking animations, as it just further contributes to how stressful and uncomfortable the game makes me feel, which I think is the entire point.
