Souls by Dezarius

Billd.JPG This was my first Game Jam. This is also my first actuall "complete" Game.

It's a game about stealing Souls from Enemys and investing them to gain POWER! You can spawn a new Wave of Enemies with just a push of a button! New creatures to steal souls from! There is also this satanic statue which is more then willed to increase your Power for some of these souls. You just need to get over these spikes...

PS: You can also sacrifice your own Soul to the statue.. But I don't think, that this is a good idea.

THIS GAME DOES NOT HAVE AN END. JUST TRY TO REACH A NEW HIGHSCORE!

Tips:

Since this game turned out the be pretty hard here are a few tips for more success:

Circle around the enemies while shooting them!

Do not underestimate Movement Speed. About 2 Upgrades are very good to dodge the mobs easier.

Each Waves increases number of Mobs and Health

Have Fun ;)

Tools: Unity, Photoshop, BeepBox.co , Bfxr

Neat graphics and sound! I would like to play more but maybe i don't get it completely. It's challenging to shoot the enemies before they hit you and i don't know what to do with my powers :D

The difficult between wave 2 and wave 3 increases too much! I enjoy playing the game, that wave button is a cool mechanic. About the theme it fits perfectlly. Like the music and the animations. Perhaps adding a 2d material without friction to the player will prevent him for slow his speed while on a wall. Congratulations!

@twobythree thx :) Yes after playing it for a bit more i think it is a bit too hard. I was already experienced with the game while development but new players find it pretty hard. Thanks for your Feedback :)

@grllle Thx :) Yeah you need to circle around them without getting hit. I thought it was a bit too easy if they get oneshooted. But maybe it's a bit to much

Like everyone else said, quite difficult, haha. I like the touch of the bridge to the powerups taking a cost as well, makes you want to stay in as long as possible. Music is fun too, the simplicity makes it so that you can loop it forever and it doesn't get annoying.

Monster designs are fun.

I really like the game art in this! I usually lost a bunch of health running through enemies at the beginning of waves before getting a chance to circle them and just realized I have to run over the spikes to do powerups from a comment... time to play again!

The 0's look like 8's. Threw me off at first. Anyway, pretty difficult game, but a good entry. Good job.

Cool game!
Nice concept and gameplay just wished the player had more control on which direction to shoot in!
Good job!

Good job
I find it difficult because the room is small and you have to lose life because enemies always touched you

Very nice first game jam and likewise first LD entry! I second @rancoud's comment on the room size being a bit small - generally means the movement upgrade isn't as useful (there's no place to escape). Otherwise, all very well done!

This was super fun. I loved the push-your-luck aspect to it where I had to decide between rounds if I was going to go through the spike floor to the shop or not. Nice work!

Haha, this was a similar idea to our own game. Cool! But quite hard yes.

It didn't seem like my bullets were actually hitting the enemy. Also, having to give up like 3 lives to get a powerup is a lot. It is a good concept just needs a little more execution.

Definitely, a better game then when I did my first Ludum Dare. I really liked the variety in the enemies forcing me to change my strategy as time went on.
