ROOP: The Ship in Danger by tomasara413

[raw]
made by tomasara413 for LD 39 (JAM)

Sci-fi rogue like game where your primary objective is to call for help.

Few tips for players:

  1. You can turn things on/off by using the control panel (it is advised to turn off as much as possible to survive [antenna sucks a lot of power]).
  2. Go to the life support room to repair oxygen generator.
  3. Pick space suit (armory).
  4. Go restart power generator.
  5. Survive.

f - flashlight
h - heal
number 1 - gun

Exit to QuitGame;

In order for doors to open you need to power them. With crowbar you can open only broken doors.

I love the use of the theme and the visuals. The game very much feels like a horror game, which works real well to go with the whole idea of "running out of everything, better quickly get out of here before I panic."

The main issue I'm having though is that I just can't seem to be able to complete the game. If you happen to close a door behind you before the power goes out, it doesn't seem possible to open them again without restarting. I'm also still confused in how the doors in the room with the crowbar tend to open, it feels random if it works or not. After that, I seem to get stuck after repairing the generator since I can't open anymore doors.

I think if the game had some sort of cue to tell you can or can not do something, or if you are even doing something at all, would go a Long way. Good work though!

The game looked fun and i found myself restarting a bunch of timex to try to play but most of the times the "E" button didnt work for some reason, the control room was very bad to control in my opinion and i think you get trapped very easily(unless i miss something)overall i think it only needx some polishing to be a great game, also the use of the theme was great, good job!

The visuals are great, and they fulfill their purpose exactly like the way they should. It creates a horror like experience and fits the theme really nice. But the game mechanics could use more touch. I don't know if it's a bug or what, but it's too easy to lose. It'd be somewhat easier of there were detailed instructions regarding the winning and losing mechanism. But apart from those points, it's a great game.

The concept of this game was intriguing but unfortunately I couldn't get very far into it without getting stuck. Sometimes a door would close behind me when the power went out so I'd be stuck in a room, or the E button wouldn't work sometimes when trying to pick up the crowbar or open a door.

I liked the feeling of the game, being trapped on a ship running low on power and having to manage the energy levels of each component, however I could never get very far into it. Maybe a little more explanation in the game would have helped.

Good job though!

The game looked pretty nice even though there were no texture, and some ambient sound effect would have really added a better mood but i like how everything is dark. The problem is i wasn't really able to do much. I ran out of energy fast. And only with a flashlight and bandages I couldn't do much so yeah.

I love the visuals and the atmossphere. Unfortunatly the controls sometimes had issues. Seems not to react to my inputs.

Please play, rate and comment our game aswell:

Wow props on the full 3D work. At first I thought the lighting was buggy, then I realized it correlated to the amount of power I had. Then I realized the lighting mechanics were awesome and really fit the theme well. I like all of the interact-ables as well as the little Messages that pop up. They are very visible so it is pretty clear what to do (if you can find the right items that is). Great job.

Conception is interesting, I really want to play this game, but I stuck with understanding how UI works. I can't understand which parts of the ship is on and how to turn them off. It's not intuitive.

Nice concept, full 3D, but if u add ambient sounds and better textures mood will be better.

Well done on the graphics, and the atmosphere is fantastic. However, I found myself struggling to progress through the game. Often time I would not be able to interact with things like the keypads, and on my first attempt I lost before even leaving the first room. A brief explanation of the controls and the objective of the game on load would go a long way.

Very interesting idea, but I the lack of tutorial/instructions makes the game hard. Once the power runs out in the control room its game over as far as I could tell, and that was happening way too quickly. There was a fair bit of double skinning/onion skinning on a lot of the models too so there may have been duplicate models present in the scene. And the addition of audio could really have improved the atmosphere and mood for the game, and if you did like audio tutorials/instructions things would be much easier. Though this game has some real solid concepts!

Unable to play because of Windows-only build but the art looks great. Looks like a fun game, wish I could play!
