Reserve Battery by Vehem

[raw]
made by Vehem for LD 39 (JAM)

Little robot on a 500 year mission to defend some boxes. A bit of a retro-styled shooter with a pure cheese backstory. Simple to pick up and play, but takes a bit of practice to complete on Hard.

Several levels, the last of which is an infinite "how long can you last" challenge. There's scope for a bit of expansion (more power ups , enemy types etc), but keeping it simple for the sake of focus on the theme.

First entry, has been fun, won't be my last.

Nice work mate! Reminds me of [Assault Android Cactus](http://store.steampowered.com/app/250110/Assault_Android_Cactus/)

Nice work! It looks like a polished game, I love the fades between levels, and the sounds, but I would add a little bit more of range to the collision of the batteries, to make it easier to pick up :D

That was a pretty fun game. I'm really bad at it, but it was still fun. Nice Job!

The game is fun and quite challenging. And I liked the idea that every shot counts because you run out of power. And I like the audio too.
Great work!

@jesus-gonzalez Thanks - noticed you edited the feedback and removed the suggestion. Was it because it could be considered critical? If so - don't worry about it - it's what we read the comments for and it was a valid idea for further development.

In truth, the game is a little "cut short" from what it could be (the last level of this version could easily be reversed to a "survive for X minutes" and the game continue after that) - mostly a lot of concepts being tried out to add some variety. Adding more "feel of progression/accomplishment" as you suggested is something I'll look into more.

It seems super easy, till you try it, nice old school levels of challenge in this game. Nice piece of work here!

I really liked the graphics in this one

To be honest, even the easiest difficulty was tricky for me (but that's just me). A small story, sound effects and controls are nice

The only thing that bothered me are story text sounds. They were a bit too loud

Classical, but well executed :)
But, is it normal that we can be blocked because of a lack of energy ?

I like the graphics and game idea. You shown the theme greatly. I feel you lose power too fast though. Shooting costs too much power imo

Thank you for the comment you left on [Powered By Coal](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/powered-by-coal)!

This is a well polished game, no bugs, no floaty controls, and it's a nice gameplay. I love that you spent your time making different levels, something that we (LiquidBrain) should have done.

I respect you for taking your time to make it so polished. While most others just try to pump out their idea. It's a bit of a balancing game, either you implement tons of features (which usually results in glitches) or you polish the ones you have. I usually do the latter.

Good luck!

The game is very classical, and feels quite finished (which is rare on events like Ludum Dare). It gave me some fun and I bet that counts.

I'd increase the amount of power you have - but apart from that, I really like this entry.

Cool game! Liked the graphics and the gameplay mechanics. Something like a crosshair would have been nice but over all a solid and well polished game. Enjoyed it, great work! :)
