Room Shuffle by DBONGames

[raw]
made by DBONGames for LD 40 (JAM)

Use your handy board to shuffle the rooms around and get to new areas.

EDIT: In the menu you have to place a room next to the start button to play.

Stutters abound as this is highly un-optimized. Hope you guys can play it! Also, didn't think about the name at all until uploading... Bad idea!

This was an interesting weekend. Got a lot done, but still so much unfinished. Scope was an issue this time, as it usually seems to be. I learned a lot of things to be filed away for next jam. Can't wait! ScreenShot.PNG

When I click start in the menu nothing happens?

The game looks nice and has a nice idea. But UX needs to be improved before people can play it. Button presses feel like they do nothing. Highlighting is needed to show where you can click.

In the menu you have to put a room next to the button you want to choose. Sorry for the confusion!

Can't even start the game.
Edit: Okay, I started the game now... and immideatly fell through the ground. It happens every time I hit the table

I followed your instructions and managed to get the game to start, however I also fell through the floor as soon as I approached the table.

Finished the game... Laggy, boring, nothing really interesting. all rooms are just straight corridors or turns, there's nothing unique to them wich makes puzzles kinda boring. Jokes in the final room were kinda funny I guess

Really really awesome game. I love these, for lack of a better term for the small scale, puzzle adventure games. The art style, while really weird, fit really well. I really did enjoy myself through it. The start menu was really confusing, and the "radioactive pill" almost made me think my game was bugged.

@lamossus
I agree! I wanted to add a story that you'd progress through as you went through the rooms, but alas, no time. Thanks for sticking with it to the end!

@nardandas
Check! More intuitive design in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

@canaha
Awesome!

I see that I get this problem to... I'll have to look into that more.

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! I looked for the games that used the #LDJAM but I don't find yours. So good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!

Really nice experience there.

My suggestions for improvement.

1) Fix the collider on the table so you don't fall through

2) Add at least a bit of color

3) Use better FPS controller (this stutters too much - maybe some camera is happening in Update instead of Late update)

5) Fix the start of the game - putting someting next to the start button is the most obscure action required to start the game I've ever seen.

6) Add sounds

7) Add freeze gun

8) Make $$$

9) Note that there is no 4. point

:)

Nice entry. Had fun playing it. Ping me if you update this to something greater. It will be 'uge!

I'll be perfectly honest. This is one of my favorite games I played this LD. For some reason it wasn't as glitchy for me as it seems to be for others, but the gameplay was just pure fun. I really loved the puzzle mechanic and just had a lot of fun with it, despite the lack of textures, etc.

I like the concept and wish it was more polish to enjoy. I found myself what appears to be falling through the ground. Still, it sounds like this helped you as expected (teach you new things) which is great! Keep it up.
