Card Game + Dating Sim/Visual Novel (Play now!)

Hi! Our game is still a work in progress. I managed to finish the card game logic, but not the story. Please, nevertheless, enjoy our take on a different kind of wacky visual novel!

So far I really like it. The Mixing of cards and Visual Novel works really well.
I can only get so far before it crashes like this:

@ripter Thanks for playing! I just uploaded a fixed version (still within the deadline, whew!). It is true that I ran out of time and therefore was not able to complete the story. But I have tied up loose exceptions like the one you caught and have a pseudo-ending screen now. If you'd like to give it another try, the itch.io link has the new version up. I appreciate all feedback <3

You should check the box with the Windows and Mac logos on itch in a way to let the client users download directly it.

The game is really cool, I like the history of the game, the art, and it fits the theme well ^^

Well done ! Keep makin games ^^

I had two bugs also (the second one crashed definitly the game) :

Hi @mathiouza, thank you for your feedback! This was a bug that was definitely fixed in my latest upload, so if you are so inclined, please delete and download it again from the itch.io link(https://lyxil.itch.io/solitairey-in-school). I also made sure to check the Windows, Mac, and Linux icons, so thank you for that suggestion! :)

I like how you gave a settings page. Also everything feels nice and fluid. It's a shame the story is so short.
Also i liked the whole "deck of responses" that was neet.

Nice idea with the theme and I can see a lot of potential with the mechanic. I definitely could identify with the main character and am very interested in seeing their story play out!

I like the idea of collecting cards through observing people and cards falling into 4 "suits". I'd love to see more card mechanics in the future, such as an option to look through your deck or reshuffle but with a penalty. Even encountering other people using their cards back at you. Like I said, lots of potential, can't wait to see a post-jam version! Nice work!

Just saw it on Twitch and decided to give it a try myself. It's a wonderful approach to the jam theme, seriously!

I'd be nice to have some special cards and stuff, but for the time given it's impressive you managed to write and join all this dialogues and characters together! Very well made <3

This looks like it took a long time to create! I enjoy the whole aesthetics of the game. So far, I'm constantly embarrassing myself on the game, trying to make freinds, but no luck so far. The starter deck is unforgivable, lol.

Congratulations on the nice job! If you have some time, please, take a look at my game at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand

This is a really good game! I like how you put cards with a visual novel! Once I was stuck with the choices of either lashing out at someone or having a dance party. Lol! Good game!

I love this! I can't think of anything to criticize, honestly. It's a fun, intriguing game.

Cool concept, the game felt polished and it was an enjoyable experience. It was hard to find good cards to play, I usually ended up with a very awkward one. I liked the music, and the characters were very cute. Great job.

Aww, what a bummer that it had to end so abruptly :( Really cool game. Great music and atmosphere. The start menu and first few seconds feel like a dating sim made over several months. Really good job. I'm not really a fan of dating sims, but the card game was really clever because it forces you to save "good" interactions for certain people.

If you continue work on this, I wish you the best of luck. And also, good luck next game jam! :)

Hey, nice job!

I was just checking the home page when I saw your post, it got my attention since we did a Visual Novel + Card Game too!

I really liked your game, it was cute and felt really polished. It was really nice to make decisions knowing that I could only give a certain number of positive answers, just like an introvert would feel in real life lol.

We planning to keep working on our game and I hope it's the same for you :D
