Dim Wit by benbennett

Gameplay

The goal of the game is to not allow the light bulb to go out. To do this, hit all the blue squares before the bulb goes out to get a fresh charge. Unfortunately for you the battery cannot hold a charge. Don't hit the red squares!

Controls

There are two control schemes, one for keyboard and one for mouse.

Mouse

For mouse controls just click the squares (Not recommended for getting a high score)

Keyboard

Numpad
Each number on the numpad (1-9) correspond to a square on the grid. Clicking that number is the same as clicking that square. Make sure numlock is on!
[7][8][9]
[4][5][6]
[1][2][3]

Letter Keys
Alternatively, if you do not have a numpad you can use the keys
[q][w][e]
[a][s][d]
[z][x][c]

Great job on the audio, I wouldn't have thought it was your first time writing music! It's very fast paced and a good trainer for click accuracy!

I really enjoyed this game and I can see a more polished version of it becoming very popular on the app store. I liked how you considered the different type of inputs your players may prefer. The retro sounding music was also great, although it did stutter a bit at some points during my play. If you ever port this game to mobile devices, you should consider implementing a high-score system. I think that doing so would be a great incentive for players to play over and over again. Again, very solid game! Good job!

This is a fun game! It gets super frantic in later levels and I usually lose by panicking and hitting the wrong key. The music and sound effects are also well done. To make re-trying a little easier, it would be cool to be able to press any of the numpad keys to start a new round, rather than needing the mouse.

Edit: Oh! I know what this reminds me of. It's like a mini-game in Mario Party. I feel like Boo is about to get me if I don't hit the keys fast enough :)

High score of 8 using the mouse  What a cool game. I agree with @algu I could totally see a game like this on a mobile phone. Music wasn't bad and the sound effects complimented the game. Well done!

It's way more fun to use the num key than a mouse! Definitely an addicting game and it makes you want to try one more time and get just a little further! Great job :)

I got 19 with the keypad, but I could do better if I worked at it. :-)

Great scope, nice polish. My only request would be a sound effect for each key press. But in general this game is very well done!

Neat! Great, simple idea well executed. I'm not much of a score-attack kind of guy, so a couple of playthroughs and I was satisfied. Great job putting this all together (with music!) in 48 hours.

This was fun! Playing with the numpad felt really good (until I messed up of course.) :D

Awesome game! Really neat and simple mechanics. The music was jolly and it matched the game play well. Some room for improvement. It would be good for the entire game to be keyboard controlled, such that the play again button doesn't need a mouse. Also some more feedback when getting the button presses right would be nice, i.e. some SFX or particle systems.
Good job!

Really fun idea of gameplay. I think it's hard, nut not impossible. Great Job!

Excellent game and well implemented. Would have loved to have an online highscore list so I could see how others do compared with me. Had a lot of fun playing this game.

This was a neat take on some of the similar lightsout style puzzle game that really got me engaged.

The game is a simple, well-polished test of reaction time and proprioception. All that is present in the game works well. If you were to revise it in the future for a post-jam release, I would recommend making cleaner and crisper graphics than just basic pixel art.

Nice work!

Very simple, but challenging due to the time constraint. The audio was very well done

We streamed your game with Danae plays on Twitch. :) Here's a link:

I really liked this, as simple as it was. The controls were kind of creative, while very intuitive of course. The challenge was enjoyable. If I could suggest some improvements, maybe a less steep difficulty curve (don't make the timer so short so quickly), and definitely online leaderboards.

Thank you for the game!
