Escape From The Bottle by Twaldigas

[raw]
made by Twaldigas for LD 38 (COMPO)

Your character was put into a small bottle world. Find items to remove obstacles and help him to escape.

I used LD38 as an opportunity to develop my very first game. It was fun and I was able to learn alot.

The game was developed with the Godot Engine. I never used this engine before LD38. I have to say, it works out better than expected. Sounds was made with sfxr. VT323 is used as font.

Thank you for give it a try. I would be happy about your feedback and appreciate that you take the time to try it.

It was fun you kind of had to puzzle your way out, but I hated the physics in the game, because it's not really natural. Also the font didn't have the right aspect ratio, which made it look awful to me. But overall, a very nice first game you've got here

EDIT: When you finish the game and hit play again, the player started levitating, which probably isn't supposed to happen.

The bottle idea is brilliant. I had some difficulties with the jumping puzzle because the character controls are difficult to master.

Thank you for your feedback. I am really happy you played the game.

Yes, the movement and jumping of the character is not good. This is something I want to improve in a new version of the game. Also thanks for the bug report regarding the restart of the game and the text. I'll fix it.

Pretty neat little metroidvania. You mentioned something about sounds but I didn't hear anything (played the web version). The fullscreen on the web version was non-functional. Also, some of the texts that appeared on screen were weirdly stretched.

It's great you chose Godot and tried with your first game during LD!

Game is simple, but you caught the spirit of so-called metroidvania. And *you made a complete game in a first try in ludum dare compo*. That's commendable!

I hope you'll keep on developing this project, and won't stop at this. If you will, keep a lookout on the text stretching, and if possible, add more content. Jump mechanic would need work, since it's not easy to control, but I think you'll get there, in the beginning those arte the things we all struggle with. Especially when getting to know the engine.

Cheers, and stay awesome!

@antti-haavikko and @takusan Thank you for taking the time to try it out and leave feedback.

There is just one sound: If you open the tresure chest, it should be played. And yes, the fullscreen mode isn't working. It was never intendet to play the game in fullscreen and I forgot to disable this option.

@takusan
Yes, having good movement isn't easy. I am currently working on a Post Ludum Dare Version with better textures, more sound and animations. I hope to adress the movement issue there.
