How to feed your dragon by Evgeniya Zapolnova

[raw]
made by Evgeniya Zapolnova for LD 43 (JAM)

Sacrifice princesses to keep your dragon happy!

To grow a real princess you will need a cake, a dress and a crown to be delivered directly into the Castle. Use coins from the royal treasury to produce wheat and fabric on the Farms, and gold bars in the Mines. Cakes are made from wheat in the Bakery (but sometimes these peasants cook a loaf instead). Crowns can be ordered from the Blacksmith (unfortunately, this lazy bastard may produce tools or bombs instead). We also have a top-notch atelier in the town, who can quickly sew perfect dress from a fabric.

Beware of the Y chromosome though! Sometimes you get a prince instead of princess, and that is not healthy food for your lovely pet! Kill him with cannon (you will need bombs, of course).

The music seems to have started about 10 seconds into the gameplay, and in that time, you cannot do anything...
Cool game!

Funny concept! It got easy after a while, since the only lose condition is killing a prince. It would probably be more fun with a little bit of time pressure.

Graphics and audio are pretty simple, but add a lot to the hilarity of the game. I appreciate the cannon mechanic.

that's an interesting entry.
i've enjoyed figuring out the ways to spend stuff on the rolling thing.
there's some kind of humor to it too i like which is supported by art.

a bit of a progression curve would make the game better i think. so you don't stress out at the beginning not knowing what to do. although there's something about that, if you know that you don't loose by not picking up coins :v:

Very clever. The gameplay is pretty addictive. The music is good and the voice acting is top notch! :)

Don't know if it's intended, but I accidentally double clicked the cannon and it shot 2 balls pretty fast, but only one of the princes died XD

Fun run!

it gets very repetitive and there are many games of this type already. The graphics are nice as are the sound

Your game is pretty fun!

I loved the sacrifice animation and the screams with it :D. The sound that plays when you build a prince/princess is hilarious.

I also liked that if you stock up on everything except dresses you can mass produce royalties. Only killing all the princes is quite the challenge with a maximum of 3 bullets next to the cannon!

Overall I really enjoyed myself playing your game! Thanks!

Fun and funny. I'm not sure why a dragon would choke on a prince and not on a princess.

Pretty nice ! That was funnier than I expected ! I would love having more challenges, a better difficulty curve, or just having to do something to generate coins (like clicking on a house ?) with a cooldown, and more uses to coins. I feel that this game just need a bit more depth and polish to be an interesting decision-making/management game. But hey, in three days, that's already amazing =) !

Good job !

Nice game! Only thing that it needs more is a challenge - increasing difficulty. Maybe the dragon would need to eat more princesses in less time. The sounds were quite funny. Especially the prince that got crushed. Overall it was really simple and amusing.

I liked that you had a tutorial video because it was not clear to me just from the game UI. It made sense after a bit but the tutorial helped a lot. I also liked that I could mute sounds, they were nice in the beginning but became too much for me. The fact that as long as you keep enough cannonballs around keeps you from losing means you can play the game forever, which I am not sure if that is good or bad. Seems like this would play well on a phone, dragging and dropping with a mouse can be tedious and despite there being no consequences, it still felt bad watching items go by.

 Poor dragon! Died from eating the prince :(

Very funny graphics and SFX! What I liked most was the reactions of the dragon!

I didn't found a use for the shovel, does the prince work on the camp?

I had a blast playing this game. Nice-looking princess, yet sacrificing her was satisfying in an odd sort of way. Overall I love the graphics and sound effects.

What a silly little game! I think it could really use some tutorialization, but otherwise I did manage to figure it out.

@bloodjohn @flying-dog-fish I think that dragon prefers princesses because woman's body contains more fat (in a good meaning). Trust me, I am a doctor. Also prince is usually a trained man and, as a result, has more tough meat. In addition, normally dragons hunted princesses and their digestive system has adapted to digest princesses only. Maybe that's the reason they are extinct nowadays.

Fun little game, it wasn't obvious that I had to use the cannon to kill the prince, a bar above it showing bombs as input would help. Good Job
