Intro
We are back !
This time we swapped our previous 2D artist, who couldn't make it, for 2 new members.
We were also joined by our musician/dev friend who took care of all the music.
Quick description
Brace yourselves, for the end of the world is nigh. The Bat God Camazotz has summoned the Great Eclipse. If it reaches totality, it will be all over.
Fortunately, all hope is not lost.
Q'uq'umatz, the Feathered Serpent God can help. Help Hunahpu sacrifice enough citizens for Q'uq'umatz to prevent the deadly eclipse. But hurry up, time is ticking.
Controls
Use A and D to move left and right, Space to jump.
Press E to pickup an offering and E again next to the altar to sacrifice it.
You can only pickup one offering at a time so choose your path wisely.
You need to sacrifice every citizens and chickens to win the game.
Sacrifing buys you some time (humans more than chickens).

- Enhancement : More volume adjustments possible ! You can now freely adjust the sounds, music and fx volumes independently
- Enhancement : The "options" menu is now accessible in-game

@deathbysnail thank you for the feedback ! Making the spikes pop out more was definitely on our todo list but we didn't have enough time to make it happen. We might release a patched version with enhanced visibility on them.
What kind of trouble do you have ? Does it not load ? Is it laggy ?
Pretty decent game! I thought the art wasn't too consistent, though the animations are on the whole very nice.
The insta-death on nearly invisible spikes wasn't fun though, if you had had either lives, or more visible spikes it might have been a fair game, but right now it feels very unfair, especially when you're pretty far into the game, it doesn't feel good to have to start over.
Good job on getting a whole game done within the time though!

The music is supposed to be more and more epic as the Bat God gets angrier and angrier.
We are aware there is a spot where you can't get out if you fall into it.
We will release a patched version of the game that fixes this among other things.
There is a pause menu if you hit the "Esc" key that allows you to restart the game :wink:

As we said above, we know about the spikes not being visible enough.

We're considering adding an "easy" mode, that has less threats, why not a checkpoint system, thanks for the idea !
There are some small things that could be improved like showing that you are carrying something. Also, if you die, it should respawn way faster, I don't want to have to click two buttons just to restart. Checkpoints when you sacrifice something would also be nice. Finally, being able to only carry one thing at a time is kind of annoying as you then have to solve the same puzzle multiple times.
Though, instant deaths are pretty frustrating as some parts of the game are hard to go throught.
Anyway, you did a great job here and I enjoyed playing your game :smile:

There is actually sound effects in the game, but we didn't have much time to mix the sound properly during the event.
Did you try the patched version ? It includes a volume mixer from within the game options !
Hopefully you'll give it a try !
