Alien Escape by carlpilot

made by carlpilot for LD 43 (COMPO)

You're stranded on an alien island. Your only choice to escape is to build a raft from your precious food supplies. Collect food and manage how you can, but must you sacrifice your escape for survival, your survival for escape or can you thread the needle and do both?bg.png

Wow great job! You have a fully functioning 3D survival game right here. That's incredibly neat! Could really have used some in-game tutorialization. I also think you water and definitely health decrease rather quickly.

Pretty nice! Well-presented, if a little overscoped. Wasn't able to restart the game once I died -- also couldn't find a way to get coconuts.

I thought the graphics were really nice and the concept is solid! It reminds me of the old PC game "Stranded." Good job! My only gripe is I seem to get thirsty really quickly and am unable to use the coconuts for anything else.

Looks pretty interesting, had some performance issues on the web player, this includes coconuts falling trough ground. Had a bit of trouble finding how to craft, I even checked the instructions and i still had to guess that the button was C, also the craft menu didn't seem to work, i could only fill the first slot.

Other than the performance and crafting issues it looks pretty nice.

I enjoy the gameplay, but I really can't stand the color choices. I understand the idea of it being an alien world and all, but I feel like playing this for longer than ten minutes or so would start to hurt do to the brightness of the pink.

Ahhhh! I had the boat fully constructed and then I pressed E instead of Q which... ate the boat?! Haha. Oh well. Fun game, though difficult to play correctly. Need to constantly be hoarding coconuts to avoid dehydration. You also need to use every single edible sprout for planks or else you won't have enough. Wasn't aware of this on my first playthrough - maybe they should grow back? Lastly, increasing the ergonomics around adding items to the crafting, as right now there's a lot of mouse travel. Overall though it's nicely done and reasonably ambitious!

Ahhhh I love this game! It's so nice! I played through it twice. The second time, I played some relaxing Minecraft music with it (seriously), and it was so tranquil. The colors are vibrant, the water is actually water, and I just love it all.

Nice little pink game!:) Although I find a little connection to the theme, graphics are nice and crafting mechanic is really sweet. Good work!

Beautiful graphics! I hoarded 30 coconuts and swam to the edge of the world, where I found salvation in the infinite void. Pausing the game in the crafting menu would be nice, as the initial read can doom you!

A good idea, i like the fact that you have to make some choice for survive. I didn't understand at beginning the instruction are not really clear but is juste a detail. I have some fun playing. Good job !

Well done on making the fundamentals of a crafting/survival game. I felt like it needed one more element, perhaps ways to discover the recipes, or recipes that collect water that give you a reason to balance "building the escape" with "making the island survivable".

I like the art design too, at least on the overworld.

The visuals here are stunning. Very well done. I would have liked to be able to open the instructions from within the game, as I have terrible short term memory and couldn't remember some of the instructions without restarting. Regardless, this is very impressive for 48 hours. Congrats!

Nice visuals. Dragging items for crafting would be massive improvement.
