~~Make a really fine game~~

I'm really cautious with horror style games, this hearth cant take so much scary things but this was a good piece of work. I'd wish you add support to WASD buttons as well it was difficult to move around with arrow keys then go to E and F keys :D

Thank you @sgt3v for the comment. We do not claim to do a real horror game, but we tried to make the best to create atmosphere.
We know that there are issues, but it was our first gamjam :D
ps : Z,Q,S,D works fine, french nationalistic chauvinism ^^
Cheers :)

Game looks really nice. Sound builds the atmosphere. Sadly, I didn't really know what was going on, and navigation was difficult with arrow keys. And taking place at the wheel and leaving became more unstable every time, until I eventually fell through the craft when I pressed F. I liked the concept; it would be much better if you focused a little more on what was going on and streamlined the game a bit more, outside of graphics and sound.

Hey thanks for your comment @ashment :grinning:

Yep they still have some bugs, but it was our first jam (and we loose a little our sense of priority )

You can change your key binding just before starting the game (in the configuration popup in the *Input* tab)

Mood is great and the whole submarine thing is different. Unfortunately saw a few bugs that prevented me from continuing without restarting (fell through the console while trying to stand up, got stuck in a crate...). The music and sounds add a lot to the mood too. Good job on your first jam!

Yep, unfortunately some bugs are still there, but we made a debriefing with the team, hoping that we can build a more finalized game next time

The mood was very nice in the beginning, but it was kind unclear what the point was, where i was suppose to do. Plus the controls really were strange, having to use E to do stuff yet you walk with the arrow keys. But the mood was nice and the sound effects were great. Pity i didn't get to see the monster, i clipped through the wall.

Nice mood, unfortunately I'm terrible at 3D games an didn't know what to do. When I sat down and started playing with the ship's controls using E and F, it got stuck and lady kept repeating same thing...yes would be nice probably to change to WASD, I guess most people are using it...

I fell through the submarine as soon as I sat down :/ Also can you only steer it one way? I reassigned the movement keys but the submarine would only turn right... Is that like, an actual submarine thing?? O.o Anyway the general concept and ideas behind this game are sweet, wasn't really able to figure out what I was supposed to do but the mood and setting of the game are cool and the idea of commanding a submarine that is running out of power on your own is a wicked idea for a horror game. Nice!

Yes, our key choice are not really good but Unity give you the possibility to change the key mapping at startup.

We are happy that you like the mood and ideas

Yes, we haven't fix all the bugs (and some are really annoying), but we currently don't have time to make a bugfix...

@sarrixx, it's seems that the controls for the submarine ignore your personnalized key mapping  So, you have to use 'A' to move left and 'D' to move right.

Wow. For a first game jam and even for a jam at all : Wow.
Ambiance is great, music is great. Just had a little issue with the camera on my mac, but really not much.
Really really good work.

Cool game! It was a bit confusing but the mood of the game is nicely constructed. I did not figure out how to turn the ship and it's a bit hard to realise what you had to do. Really like the sonar effect and always felt like something was going to get me. Nice job!

Really liked the atmosphere - definitely potential for a good thriller game here! I too had some issues figuring out what I was supposed to do and when but that is not the end of the world, sometimes figuring it out is part of the suspense. What DID bother me is when I got a game over I had no idea why, it just ended :o Did I run out of air? Did the monster get me? Did we flood? I don't mind losing but I really want to know why :D Keep on working on it though!

Thank you all for your feedbacks :grinning:

@hs-dave the only condition that trigger a game over is when the monster catch you up (when the ship speed is too low), but yep, some information are still missing.

Right away the game feels very polished, though seeing you've used an asset pack I'm not sure how much you made during the jam. I found an interesting bug where I fell out the world when pressing `F` after I sat in the pilot chair. I also got stuck in the floor (I think) after a few trips to the pilot chair. The soundscape in the rest of the submarine feels very tense, well done. One of the better games I've played, though it is a bit buggy right now.

top notch atmosfere, sounds and graphics! An horror game on a submarine is a great idea, great job! I encountered some bugs in the cabin, falling trough the floor and some minor graphic glitch (a head on a dead body was rendering out of place) but i think this game has great potential.

Sounded and looked great, special mention for the audio because so few people really bother with it, but it's a super important aspect.

Looks like an interesting game however on linux i have the problem that on fullscreen it does not take the whole screen just a boxin the left corner and that is unresponsive. If i play windowed it is impossible for me to turn around as my mouse leaves the screen.

This sound is great! This graphic is great! This immersion in the oppressive atmosphere of fear and loneliness... is greate! I realy liked this game, good work!

First up i really like the sountrack. Later it started to really fatique my ears because of the constant droning and a lack of dynamics. It also distorts.
The sound effects are great.

My biggest issue with this was the controls. Arrow Keys? Alright, but then don't have me move my hand to akwardly placed hotkeys. The compass is only operable with the "D" key for some reason, I would go full wasd controls in your case.

The camera is very sensitive to control, so it's not easy to move around. It also seemed to have framerate drops, maybe because of the motion blur but i can't tell.

Gameplay-wise it seems promising with those random events occuring.

The mood is building up nicely as well.

Overall: It looks promising! I would put my focus on reworking the controls and fixing/improving on the audio track. Don't get me wrong, i love the harmonics in the track but it just sounds too flat.

Thanks for your comments

@tjakka5 yep, we made some mistake with controls, but we'll take notes to improve that for the future.

It was a bit buggy and I would have preferred default WASD controls, but the atmosphere and the working parts of the game were great. Preventing me from leaving the ship would have helped this game a lot.

Thanks everyone for the comments, it is very appreciated. We will try to clean as much as possible all known issues to improve the quality of the game. We are happy to see that the mood that we wanted has been shared to everyone. @kubenexion & tenshi42, I hope you ready for the next steps, see what I mean ?

The audio and mood are the best elements of this game. The music is great, the lighting of the stage is great, the slow animation of sitting in the chair is good.

But the gameplay is lacking, I hate when the game treats me like a child and tells me "Go here, now pick this, now go here, now move to steps to the front, now attack this man, now go back" (yes, i'm looking at you assassin's creed 😡), but in this case, the game really needs some directions, for instance, even though I have a steering wheel in front of me, I'm not sure if I can control it, pressing buttons doesn't seem to work, dragging it with the mouse doesn't work either. So, there are two options here, either is intended that you can't move the wheel in which case, if feels more like a bug than a feature, OR you can move the wheel but is not explained well.

To finish, congratulations on your first jam, is really well done. My recommendation for the next jam is that you leave more time for testing and polishing the game.

It looks and sounds very nice, but I think the controls are awkward. Why would you have Arrow Keys in combination with Mouse movement and E, F keys? IMHO if it just was WASD for movement the gameplay would have been far better. Other than that excellent work, keep it up!

Hey, it's a weird game but it has a tension atmosphere that is cool.
I found a bug when I increased the power consume and the camera moved like out of the ship.
Nice work :)

The concept could be fun, but it is unfurtunatelly burried in very hard to control interface... for example the sit animation might not even be there it is unneceserally disturbing and slows down the steer/check sonar main game mechanic loop. I also had trouble with just general controlling the character (why no WSAD?) and when I wanted to go to menu it actually quit the session I was running. It's good try for the first jam though, keep it up!

Impressive !
I believe a 3D game like this is a challenging work !
The atmosphere and the music was well created . I was waiting for a monster to come and eat me or something similar :)
I loved the idea and I am looking forward to playing your future games ! :)

All hail to the French keyboard! :two_hearts::flag_fr:

The atmosphere was excellent, but I could never take place on the seat. Pressing F did nothing. Too sad! :sob:

Really liked the atmosphere. Reminded me a lot of the Deus Ex Oceanlab level if you've ever played that. The music was also especially good. Nice work.

Uneasy mood, the sense of dread is palpable, achieved through a solid soundtrack and environment.

Solid attempt, I'm looking forward to your next entry!
