Energy Drones by Asofi

[raw]
made by Asofi for LD 39 (JAM)

Hello, guys!

It's my first jam and game (actually demo :)) fully made by myself :)

You are the drone who should help last people and turn on a generator at end of the level.

Controlls

Use AD for the move, Space for jump, Shift for accelerate, E for examining item and F for Interact. Also, use a mouse for Attack. * 1 or 2 * to switch weapon. 2017-08-01.png

P.S. Yes it's pretty hardcore

Nice game, but so difficult.

Okey so, maybe you shall reduce the numbers of input ! not sure about running is fun there, if the speed is well designed you can only challenge on timing (with acceleration on the avatar maybe ?)

You shall deletee de interaction to take energy or obligatory items to keep moving forward.

Difficult because of limited ammo on 2nd weapon. Maybe it should renew faster? Overall fun platformer.

@webster, yes I totally agreed with you. It's first things that I though about.

There is because of difference between my first idea and result :).

Thanks for the reply!

Hello, @xsior!

Cause I have only one little level I tried to keep it hardcore enough. Btw, you can always switch weapon to melee and smash them :D.

Later, of course, I'll balance it better!

The graphic and audio is good. Good design to your game. However, it is a bit hardcore. Maybe next time you can start with easy, then increase the difficulty slowly throughout the game.

That was pretty fun, I liked having to plan out my next move in order to try to get to the next room. I think it was after room 4, it's kind of a leap of faith and I just happened to land right in the pit. Maybe have checkpoints or make it less of a drop so it isn't as unforgiving.

I like the amount of different things one has to keep in his mind and fingers while playing: really tough, but challenging (in a good sense). In the web version there sometimes happens this bug - the drone suddenly starts moving backwards.

Nice, but I think that it is way too difficult. It is almost imposible to dodge enemies' lasers.

That first drone is one tough cookie but once I got his weapon then the game really started. Very well done for a first entry/completed demo. I was progressing just fine until I had to make blind jumps which made me land very close to pit and I guess the momentum carried me over to my death. Since there's not much other tools in my arsenal to save me from a fall, I suggest removing the blind drops or adding some sort of guidance that says "the spot is safe to jump down to" or something like that ;)

humanity? What happened to it? It said game over, but did I actually get humans disappear from the earth? Soon I'll be the master of this world. Either way, the first puzzle was pretty difficult, needing multiple keypresses to solve.

yes, I didn't make a story in time and just wrote a little in description)

And course I'll make controls more comfortable in post-ld version)

Amazing work for your first Ludum Dare! At the beginning, i was a little confused and dies a lot but i took me a couple of tries before i could beat the game. The art and sound is great and the gameplay is simple. Very well scoped.

Though a few things that i personally would have added. That extra amount of polish. Maybe you can add a smoke trail particle for the jets, it'll help with some extra amount of movement. Or instead of the enemies disappearing when they die, they could explode into lots of pieces. This is help with the feel of permanence. Though these things do not change the gameplay of the game. It changes how it feels, to play the game.

Here's video about this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg

All in all, this is a great game. Especially for your first time participating in the Ludum Dare. Mark this is a great learning step onto your game making career. Congratulations!

Christ, that was hard! Super fun, though. Graphically gorgeous, soundtrack was good, sound effects were good, and the gameplay felt hard-but-fair. There was a kind of "knack" you had to find to each challenge.

Really well done!

This was a really hard game, but that is what makes it so fun. the game looked really amazing and i had a lot of fun playing it.
I think that games need a challenge in them, and your game is a perfect example of this. It was really fun and you should be very proud of your game.
Good Work!! : )

I like the design of the robots, they look pretty cool. Like other commentors i had quite a hard time initially with the game. however once I realized that my robot had further reach then the others it instead turn a bit to easy. there are definitely improvements that can be made to make the combat feel slightly better.

Still it's nicely put together, keep up the good work!

**That was fun!**

I liked how you made it quite hard from the beginning, as it got me quite frustrated, and, to be honest, I liked that in a strange manner (it's this "it can't be that hard, this time, I have to get it"-feeling, if you know what I mean )

Jokes aside:

There isn't much more to say. As @tyranosaw already mentioned, some visual polishing (especially on an enemy's death) would have been nice, but otherwise, I don't have any criticism to give.

**Great game, much fun to play, thank you for sharing **

Definitely a tough one, especially in the lower platforming section (which unfortunately I couldn't get through). Great music, and interesting mechanics once I got the hang of it, though. Would have liked to either have the gun at the start or a way to get it from the first enemy more easily. An excellent first entry for sure!
