Make It Home by Andrew Brotherton

[raw]
made by Andrew Brotherton for LD 40 (JAM)

A simple drinking and driving game. The more drinks you have, the worse it is.

SPACE - Drink (Drinking more gives you more points, but makes it a little harder to drive) A, D - Steer Left and Right Respectively.

Note Turns while driving are done automatically, also, don't crash.

Excellent game, great entertainment. I found the hitboxes could have been better. It would have been nice if they had modeled the hitboxes after Haber and Waterson's masterpiece "Escape From The Numerical Labyrinth"

Neat idea. Could use some jazzy radio music.

Drank 36 drinks, immediately hit the first obstacle. 10/10 dead-beat parent simulator.

High score 2965, died in a fire though. It's actually quite relaxing to have no drinks and then complain about how many of your idiot neighbors have left their garbage in the street. Also, what a cheeky hood ornament.

Very good game. I liked how you implemented being impaired and being unable to make good decisions while you were driving.

I liked the game, the driving portion actually felt quite immersive (squeezing through 2 parked cars feels like a shave) and the educational value is good. Drank 20+ cups on my second playthrough and got a higher score than my first (~8 cups). What did that teach me? :D

Feedback time! More sounds would def have made the game more engaging, with tires screeching etc. The initial button sfx for Play Game hurt my ears (a little too loud) as I turned the volume up because the background music was soft. Probably can normalize the volumes. I liked the crashing sound though - makes me feel like something serious had happened.

Initially, there was no indicator of time so I didn't know what to do apart from Press Space (and I didn't really get the understanding of why I would want to drink more drinks if it would made gameplay harder - took some time to realise that it made scores increase faster).

Overall, a very innovative and unique game, with a great concept. Also, good job on Blender! I tried Blender before and gave up within 30 mins. You get an achievement for making this in 4 days! Quite alot of models in-game.

Nicely done. I thought I drove rather well for having downed 11 drinks... I think the driving was a bit too easy at first, but then seemed to degrade rather quickly toward the end. Great take on the theme!

I really like this game. Really fun and innovative. And it fits the theme. I do think, however, that there should be something to incentivize the player to drink more (although most players are really curious like me and will try to drink as much as they can to explore the game).

Nice game! I really like your 3D modelling, it is simple but very effective! Nice detail that it is possible to drive the fences out of the ground.

At the first playthrough I was not sure what to do in the first scene, should I drink more or less, there was no incentive to do one or another. It would've been nice if there was a (small) gameplay element.

But after that it was a lot of fun to drive around, it really felt like I was driving in a neighboorhood! The controls are pretty good (when sober ;) ), and the build-up in difficulty is very well done.

Well done!

The drunk effects are pretty damn cool, although the auto-turning made me feel a tad weird.

This is an awesome little game, i just couldn't stop myself from drinking, though doing so did punish me. There could have been a little bit more polish to the game to make it feel that much better. Anyways, i would love to see the game expanded and worked on. Congratulations on the game!
