WMATA Metrorail Repair Dispatch System by tvanantwerp
The most awful piece of ancient technology I deal with on a daily basis is the DC Metro. So I've built a little simulator of what I can only imagine working at Metro HQ must be like.
As a would-be WMATA dispatcher, your job is to send repair crews to different stations as they suffer one calamity after another. The system map is displayed as ASCII text, which might actually be more advanced than whatever WMATA really does. You've only got 5 repairmen available to keep the system running. Again, 5 repairmen may be generous compared to the real Metro. If every line in the system has 0% passenger capacity for 6 in-game hours, you lose.
The game is built with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Nothing fancy--just a quick and dirty web game. I choose to imagine the low-fi graphics, simplistic technologies, and messy code are an accurate reflection of real life inside WMATA.
Game isn't optimized for smaller screens--desktop play recommended.
