Super Soup Slicer by chriiis88

[raw]
made by chriiis88 for LD 41 (JAM)

1.PNG 3.png

Slice your way through tons of vegetables to create soups. Each pot requires the vegetables displayed below. There is a given number of soups you have to cook per level. Don't waste vegetables: if your score drops below zero, you lose.

"Unfortunately" the two genres "cooking" and "casual/clicker" mix rather well and so one could argue that the game doesn't really fit the theme. However we focused on finishing the game instead of trying to force an unfitting genre into the mix and we're still happy with that choice.

The game was done using HTML5/Javascript.

Known issues: - dropping the first vegetable always results in a loss, since the score (obviously) starts at 0 - the monster at the end doesn't do anything yet - there is only a limited number of sounds - the game is completely unoptimized, especially with regards to the Javascript size - sometimes it may take a long time for a required vegetable to appear, since it's completely random

Improvements in the post jam version: - More sounds - More levels, better level progression - Added hints for each level- Fixed vegetable spawn rates - Added troll - Minified js

Funny game! Maybe too repetitive, you could add some features like moving the cooking pot or something like that, but still, it was cool to play ! (I also loved the pots' faces and the music :D)

Quite relaxing game with great music, but then gets stressful soon with the double belts.

This is a really fun neat game, if a little easy. We too did a convener belt style cooking game :v:

Simple, but it had a lot of charm. I liked the faces on all the game elements. The music seemed low to me though compared to the sound effects.

I think there could be a lot of polish added pretty simply that would make things pop a little more. Maybe some animations for the pot when a vegetable hits it? Also, was there a lose condition? Is there anything stopping you from just looking at one pot and ignoring the others? Maybe a time limit to the level or something?

Also, just having something like the vegetables spin as they fall would add a lot.

Nice job!

I was kind of giving up on the last level- but I pulled through! Love the title, and the gameplay was challenging. Graphics were hilarious. Especially love the look of the blue guy. ;) Played on mac and touchpad was pretty humbly. Thanks for the game!

This game is a trip. The eyes on everything made me feel a ting of guilt ever time a poor vegetable tumbled into the smiling pot. Nice work guys.

Well done! Really fun game after things started ramping up, and it was a interesting to go back and forth on both belts and all the pots at the same time. Good work.

Not bad, solid game! I like the little bounce the vegetables have when you slice them, and the sound effects work pretty well.
