Lovely animations and great presentation in general. I like the mechanic of distributing power to your defenses.

I think 'x' is an awkward key for firing when wasd is used for movement. Maybe something on right side of the keyboard would be better.

Other than that, great job.

Fun Game, looks amazing, maybe have more then one health :P and as metioned earlier X is a bit hard to reach from wasd, i prefer to have shooting on the mouse

I really love the art, though the controls feel a bit weird. Using z instead of e or providing alternate keys for firing for people using WASD would've been beneficial. The only other issue I noticed was that bullets go through walls. Other than that, the game is very fun and the graphics are very well done.

I got an "out of memory" error on the game page (even though I run on an i7 with 8Go of RAM and I'm using firefox)

It feels like a version of Super Crate Box. The controls are not the best choise shooting on x while playing with wasd is not easy. Graphics and Music are cool.

The animations and lerping is very nice. Good job!

Hey all, thanks for the comments, the feedback is great. If you get issues with the HTML5 version there is a link below which was the intended version. I tried the HTML5 version afterward and it seems a little unstable. Also, fair comments about the controls but for people who might see this and haven't played this, remember to try the arrow keys and x as a setup works a bit better.

Really fun to play, animations are very smooth, graphics look nice. Gameplay is simple, but fun. Shooting with 'x' while using "WASD" can be a little bit difficult, except that amazing game.

Great Game! Reminds me very much of Super Crate Box. Was that the inspiration? The squish and squash animations are great, maybe the landing one takes a tiny bit too long. The tower tower defense-esk mechanic really adds another level to the game. Through a pet peeve of mine is the fact that i die in one touch. For me, when i make some amount of progress, it is really dissatisfying to just die. Also, maybe start off the game with a lower difficulty. At the beginning, i really had a difficult time figuring out the game mechanics. All in all, good work and Congratulations! :smiley:

@tyranosaw Thanks, great to hear you enjoyed it. It was heavily inspired by Super Crate Box. I loved that game and wanted to use this jam as an excuse to see how it could be made and what UE4 could do with 2D content. Sorry to everyone about the 1hp thing, I guess I did that classic mistake of spending too much time playing my own game that I forgot the difficulty curve for others...

This is a really fun game! I loved the graphics and sound design. The animations were well made and the distribution of power to your various defenses is excellent. My only complaint, as others have said, is the use of the x key for firing. Other than that it's excellent! :)

The key layout is a big issue here. The keyboard layout isn't good with "X" being the key to shoot with.
The gamepad layout is slightly better but doesn't allow you to build defensive structures. You can get in the menu but can't select anything.
It would also be nice being able to hold down the trigger to shoot constantly. Mashing an analog trigger doesn't work as well as mashing a button.
I don't know if there are weapon upgrades since i didn't get far.

The music is a short loop, getting a bit boring after a while and doesn't suit a more fast paced shooter very well.

The sound effects are nice, would love to hear more for jumping etc.

The artstyle looks nice, very bobbly animations and cute characters
The controls feel alright too.

Would give it another go with an updated control sheme.

Overall it looks very promising, just a little rough around some edges.

Much like the others, controls felt a bit wonky. The game was fun but firing was definitly too strange, firerate felt slower on the second round (For some reason?). The difficulty is also waaaaaay high right from the start.

Honestly this is easily one of the best entries I have yet seen. The art and animations are AMAZING - simple, but so fluid and stylistic. The gameplay is REALLY fun - albeit maybe a tad too difficult - and the shooting and movement are very satisfying. Even the sound design is impressive, especially for how limited your time was. Overall, you did a really, really good job!

Pretty good animation and graphics. Gameplay-wise it is a very hard game, found myself at the game over screen way too often. Otherwise nice entry.

Cool game, and yes it's pretty hard, but not too unfair. My annoyance with the controls was having to use the mouse to pick what to build, having to lift your hand off the controls is not too cool. Nice bit of variety here using different building spots and weapon pickups.

A bug I found annoying was that the turrets would shoot before turning to face an enemy, so they waste a shot and often take damage as a result (this bug was very obvious when building three turrets on the middle platform). Another one was that enemies seem to follow different rules when they're offscreen, not doing or taking damage.

Also, holy 107 megs o_o. I actually thought twice about downloading it, even though I have a fast enough connection - maybe UE4 is not the best for this type of game?

Despite all this negative stuff I'm writing, I really did enjoy playing the game. Great work, and good luck!
