Never Enough [SCREENSHAKE] by Rumpffinator

[raw]
made by Rumpffinator for LD 40 (JAM)

Wew, it's over huh. Well, I gotta say: It was a lot of fun for my first LD. Had some issues with strict parents here and there so I've only had like 12 hours or so but I still like what I've made.

It's a top down shooter but (almost) every time you level up the screenshake gets worse.

Well, what can I say. I just love some good ol' screenshake.

It has an online leaderboard, which can be found here: http://gmscoreboard.com/never-enough

Oh, and seizure warning!

Its a lot of fun to play. Very fluent and nice art.
However, the game glitches around when my shield breaks in a higher level and I get 5 levelups :D
Love the artstyle :)

Unnecessary amounts of screen shake is something I can appreciate! Good job on the movement too. It really helped the game be fun. I really like how overpowered the shield break is. It's pretty funny to get hit once and then see everything blow up.

Nice work! The game had a good pace, never felt overwhelming and had a good flow to it. Shooting enemies felt satisfying and having an online leaderboard gives you a sense of "just one more round". I also liked the seizure warning and the raw JSON leaderboard message ;D

One tiny thing is that I once died because an enemy spawned inside of me, but hey, this is Ludum Dare, no one expects a perfect game ^^ Good job!

Nice, half of my comments on this ludum dare has been saying to people that they need screenshake. You definitely nailed that one. I think the controlls need a lot of work. You can only short straightforward and that is where the enemies are coming from. This resultet in me having to circle the enemies 4-5 times. Then back and shoot and repeat. It would make more sense if you shoot backwards. Or even better to the sides, because then you would circle the enemies and shoot them at the same time. (That would be f**king awesome). Love both the artstyle, music and JW-inspired theme. Keep working on it!

Fun game! Had trouble with being only able to shoot forward. My strategy was to move around as much as possible until all enemies where in one spot, and then turn around to shoot them. The leader board did encourage me to try it some more! Great job!

A very polished, juicy game. The screenshake is on point and satisfying. The game is just hard enough to keep playing and figure out strategies to win, the wave system works well in this genre. However, the controls are stiff and it's hard to line up shots - perhaps the turning radius is too wide. The graphics are okay, not too much to add to that. They're functional but not exceptional. Overall, well done. Hope to see you again next Dare!
