A Shocking Discovery by Conrad Etherton

The people of Idioton, fascinated by electricity, have decided to put their lives in your hands. They are relying on your kite flying skills for light and warmth, don't let them down.

Move left and right to guide your kite toward lightning, and stand near the cables to transfer power from the struck kite to the selfish townspeople. If they do not receive enough power, their population will decrease, and if everyone in the town dies, there is no point in going on.

The art is lovely and you've got a great theme, but the gameplay can be somewhat frustrating when it feels like you're at the mercy of the wind.

Very nice looking game, the physics are fun too! I also enjoyed your music, its a nice balance to the surprises of the lightning. I might have jumped the first time the kite flew towards my face

Very good pixel art, it look me a little while to realize that there were three "collumns" of building and you have to keep each powered by their respective cables. Some kind of timer to show how long I lasted would be a great addition. The kite physics were impressive.

Very good, I liked the graphics, sounds and gameplay, I did not play on my phone, I do not have one, but I think the experience will be even better.

Love the art, and the physics of the kite swooping about and sometimes tugging at your character is great. It was really hard to tell if I was doing things right though, I didn't really notice if the population bar ever slowed its dropping, and there wasn't any sound or feedback that I was doing well/poorly. A beautiful little game that just needs a bit extra polish. Thanks for making this!

Really cool game, I whish the lightning would hint you on where it would strike, that way you'll have a more active role in it.

It's like fishing lightnings :P

Congrats on the entry!

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone!

@sir-mr-dr-prof-sr-jr-phd @aircraft-terrier Sorry for the lack of feedback on how the town worked! Was running short on time but would have liked to communicate things better

@rombus The cloud that's about to strike will start turning white, and it will hit your kite if it's the nearest target

I absolutely adore the string physics. It does feel like you're flying something around, rather than controlling it directly, which is really nice. The atmosphere is strong as well. Some minor complaints are that the lil wires should be a bit better marked, and there should be a clearer indication of their hitboxes, as well as the kite's with regard to the lightning. Also, there's no reason to switch scenes from the title screen; it's jarring, and would've worked better with paused physics or something. Still, good job, and a fantastic (if a bit dismal) take on the theme.
