My game is called MyTurn BR.

It is a 2D, Single Player, Turn-Base, Battle Royale game.

It was a bit of an ambitious project. but i had a blast making it. I really hope you all enjoy it! I Co-Streamed the whole thing with my buddy @Angelbait on mixer (mixer.com/Outbreak). Please go check his game as well!

--RANDOM THINGS--

-- Improvements That Can Be Made-- - Indicator to show that you have you a med pack - Indicator that you need to reload - Have the shooting characters face their targets when shooting - Have the characters face the direction they are moving - Better Music! The Menu and In-Game music are both irritating (Sorry) :/ - Better Graphics! #NeedArtist

--BUGS-- - Walls are not showing up and you can go off map :( - When you use a med pack, you will get full health, however the health text doesn't update until you get hit :(

--Features That I Want To Add-- - A Zone that closes in on the map - When less than 5 players, increase the size of font of the alive players - When 1v1 have the music pick up a bit

-- Things I have added since the jam ended (bugs and visual improvements for the player) -- - Tutorial screen is now 8 seconds. Up from 2. - Pickup sounds for pistol and rifle are now working as they were not before - Health text added to show you your health - Added Text to let the player know it is the AI's turn - Increased the Camera field of view ever so slightly for both regular and scoped

--OBJECTIVE--

Be the last man standing! Get that Winner Winner Victory Royale!

--CONTROLS--

Controls are fairly simple! When it is your turn, you can click on one of the 4 options. Move, Shoot, Reload, Heal.

Move - You will be able to move using WASD. (1 block)

Shoot - You will shoot the closest target (if you have a gun). Accuracy is affected by distance. There is a diagram in the tutorial before the game starts.

Reload - You will need to reload your weapon before firing it again.

Heal - Will heal you for full health. Only if you have a med pack.

--PICKUPS--

Pistol - Short range. 2 Damage

Rifle - Longer range. 3 Damage

Med Pack - Heal the player to full health.

Binoculars - Increases the field of view.

--WEAPON DAMAGE AND ACCURACY--

Accuracy depends on how far you are from the target.

I couldn't play your game! None of the keyboard controls responded. I did manage to hear the music and start the game, but I got to the grid (after the instructions zoomed by too fast to read them) and then no amount of clicking or button pressing did anything.

Soooo ... How can I say that ? ^^ I thought at the first time that the weapon on the ground was a wall, or an obstacle ^^' Maybe I am tired, but you should make it clearer I think ^^ And, badly, the gameplay is too poor to make the game interesting to play : just stand up in front of an enemy and shoot/reload while anyone is dead. Also, the tutorial is skipped too quickly, I was just beginning to read the text that it desappears :/ (it can be the gamejolt player which is buggy, it was already the case with an other game). So maybe I missed some points, and if it is the case, I am sorry.

You made a music though, and I really appreciate that ! A lot of jammer think that no music is ok, but no, that is not "ok" x))

Cool game (which can be improved, you know it), that fits the theme well :) Keep coding :) (and you made a stream, that is cool I think ^^)

This is a good concept. I think this would benefit from being able to see the whole game area at once, so you could really do some turn based strategy. Great job though!

The manual is only up for a second, no time to read it. Please change that, I would consider this not an issue to do after the jam, it really makes it hard to play the game well.

Another thing: why does it take so long after a turn until I can move again? You should not have to wait for everyone to take their turn, only the visible enemies should delay your own turn so you can see them act.

Also I was able to loot a kill that another player made, then I killed that player but moving onto that loot left the loot box intact. Should I not have picked it up?

Overall quite a buggy entry it seems, I did not see my bullets after shooting, probably because I was in the direct neighbor cell. I did not know whether I shot at all and if I hit anything.

The music is good, a bit repitative, you could have made a longer song to loop.

The sound effects fit well. Shooting and healing sound like it :-)

The graphics are very minimal but they are enough to get across what is happening.

As you mention yourself, a health indicator would be helpful, as well as to know if my gun is loaded and how many bullets I have left.

Overall an OK entry, do not let my mostly negative critique discourage you. You did a great job creating a game in 48 hours. That is a great accomplishment and you have my respect for that. Also cool that you streamed your game dev. Keep up the good work, I look forward to your next creations :-)

I really have to echo many of gonutz's comments.
The pace was pretty slow, for the first several moves I had no idea what I was doing. Im not sure if the timeout between moves is artificial or not but the wait time felt pretty long.
Luckily I found a gun. Everyone around me seemed to be weaponless ;)
I thought perhaps I would shot in the direction I was facing but I'm not sure that's how it worked.
The music loop could be a bit longer, I had to turn down my speakers.
A cool concept and you got it done in time which are both things you should be proud of.

Interesting idea with range of view and posibility to increase it. I think AI turn should take less time :D I was confused at the begining but realised whats going on :D Music is a bit irritating but cool concept and you can develop it to something good with better grapics and explanation of rules :D

I didn't see anything for like a minute. With the AI taking a long time, it was pretty boring. Then I died. Good job finishing it!

The vision range is challenging. And asymmetrical (left-right you can see 3 tiles away, but up-down only 2 tiles away). So it makes for a pretty frustrating when you move to a medback only to see it snatched by an enemy...

Also the ammo status could be telegraphed a tad better. Cause finding yourself bravely engaging the enemy only to realize that your weapon wasn't loaded... for quite some time now is also frustrating.

Alnd finally - why can't I pick up excess guns? Even if I don't need the upgrade anymore - I want to deny the enemy from getting them. Cause it doesnt feel good to leave a shotgun behing only to be shot in the back with it two turn later...

But all this frustration... I guess that's just Battle Royale in a nutshell...

A strategy game! love them, it's a bit hard to do strategic moves though, maybe if I would have seen the whole game area at once. Good job finishing the game!

The game showed that turn-based strategy games and battle royale could work, but it does need a little more tweaking. UI indicators and a sense of direction could help.

The concept is fine. If it'll receive more work, it's possible for this to turn out great.

Fun game, biggest improvement I would like to see if you updated would be a larger camera view to help see whats going on overall. Other than that, it was fun :)
