Fuel Duel by coatline

Welcome to Fuel Duel! You have a very slow car but you want to go faster. So the obvious thing to do is... Crash into a wall and let your fuel spill all over the ground! Now you weigh less and can go much faster! Of course, now you need to be more careful not to crash into a wall or slip on your fuel on the ground. But, it's worth it. Maybe...

TIL I suck at racing games! Good job.

The title screen is great. I love the sound of the car zooming past. The game idea is pretty unique too and I enjoyed playing all the tracks. It would be cool to have computer players on the tracks and perhaps a global high score list as well, but those things are difficult to add in 48 hours. Also, the animation and the sound for the car slipping on the fuel turned out great. I even ran over fuel on purpose just to see it. You are now 3 for 3 on Ludum Dare entries. Keep it up!

Interesting concept! Getting faster while becoming more vulnerable and harder to control works well. The controls could need a little more tweaking though - it's really difficult to control the car at a higher speed. Maybe if the camera would turn with the car instead of a fixed top view it would also make it easier to control.

For me the controls are a little to sensitive. You have a very unique concept. Nice Work!

The concept was pretty good but the game feels too empty. there are no obstacles soundtrack or ai. maybe you could add an ability to boost which will consume fuel when used or similar things to keep it entertaining.

Nice track designs. The 'sacrifice' game mechanic might have made more sense if I could manually dump fuel for speed to get more score/laps. The turning circle is quite small and I'd love to be able to drift!

Liked the idea of leaving blood/oil on track which indicates where did you make mistake, and incentivize player to try harder next time he rides in the same spot. Also the punish when you do make mistake on the same spot is a nice idea.
Speeding up while you bump into wall is cool idea too, incentivize the player to risk vs reward gameplay.

At first the mechanics wasn't very clear to me, felt bored, not challenged by the game. While trying not to hit any walls from the start. Once I realized, you can speed up, it was a different story. Would be better for the player, if you better comunicate the rules of the game. Anyway GJ! FYI I try to play games without seeing the description, to just get the raw feeling from the game. Also it helps (me) identify many mistakes.
