edit: **whoopsie this sent twice since the site is being really laggy atm*
Graphics and sound were good given the 48-hour limit.
Good job!
Overall good game and fun to play! Great work!
I think the folder names here were key. I'd be navigating after the latest bug and then go "Wait? What? What was that folder I just clicked on?..." Many enjoyable moments there.
It would have been cool to have a pie chart or something similar showing total disk space. File tree charts showing space consumed by each file are one of my favorite things. That would have made a good alternate end screen, showing which unattended folder led to your doom.
Regardless, this game is quite fun and the levity of the desktop environment only helped make the game more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your game.
And it is funny to see "You can't delete folders, it is cheating" when I tried to do so. :)
Thanks for playing! :)
It would have been nice to be able to click on a window to become "focused" so the windows would appear in front of everything else. Now you were kind of limited on how many windows you can have open at the same time.
All in all, very fun game. It is quite similar to mine but has a the aspect of navigating folders, I'd appreciate it very much if check out my game
The first few times I mainly read through the text of many of the files you had in there. I really liked those, gave this game a personal touch.
Anyway, one of my favorites from the games I've played so far.
Butt.vir made me laugh also but I'm immature like that.
I don't feel like I did that well with my best time being about 2 minutes out of a few attempts but you nailed the theme and I didn't know how to give you props for all the details so I rated 'mood' for that, hoping others do the same and you get the scores you deserve!
I wanted to keep the computer alive for a longer time but I can't :(
.vir files are reaaaaaally interesting!
Great work!
I think it could be improved if the searching for virus file was a bit more guided and less "needle in a haystack" searching and relying on luck.
The music was OK but some more sound effects would have been good, especially since you're supposed to be using a computer.
Overall tho, more responsive than IRL windows so a good score from me.
And some folders not to moving in parent folder when drag'n'drop them on '../'
I think, better bind 'back to parent folder' on 'space' button, to more fast searching.
I've put tested counter measures in the game to ensure that doesn't happen, but if this issue is still a problem please let me know :)
Otherwise, if you mean the pop ups sometimes appear to cover the bin, you can move them with the blue bar.
Also, if you mean even if a pop up is covering the bin you can still place stuff in the bin, this is an unintended consequence of simply using rectangles. I didn't have enough time to make it do checks with every rectangle on the screen to make sure it's not in any other window.
This should answer your question (it was a little vague and I didn't understand what the problem was, haha), let me know if I got it wrong :)
;)
Nevertheless, enjoyed it.
:point_right: It could be that I was playing on a trackpad, but I found the actual gameplay a bit frustrating. Maybe some hotkeys could help when the player doesn't have a mouse. It's clear you put a lot of work into the mechanics, but I think it could use just a bit more refinement before it gets players like me (bad a twitchy games) to get into it.
:bulb: The pseudo-genre of "Computer OS Games" is growing nicely. I could see some of the mechanics in here mixing nicely with a game like Kingsway.
:star: Overall good job, and thank you for making this.
Nice job !! A really good compo game :)
btw, maybe you could checkout our jam game for us to get feedbacks ?! :p
Good Job !
I kept double-clicking, which opened multiple instances of things. Oops, habits and such ;)
This is a really solid compo entry!
