Shape Runner by ohi12

[raw]
made by ohi12 for LD35 (COMPO)
The game is an infinite runner in which you change shapes to get over obstacles. Nothing to complicated, for the sake of keeping it simple.

This is my entry for my first ludum dare. I tried to keep the game simple, somewhat minimalist, with a limited scope and tried so hard to tie all of the experience together. All done by my in 48 hours.
Hope you enjoy it!

I hear you people, now the game will be slower at the beginning and speed up at a slower pace too. Fixed some issues, and made it a little bit more clear(hopefully) which shape you should be to bypass each obstacle.

Grats to your first LD :-) It's a nice idea. After a while, it's getting really fast, which is cool. Sometimes I got stuck because as the ball, I could not move backwards, but that may be my own fault :-)

It's very challenging, I like that.

Yep, I should make some fixes. It gets to a point where the platforms start moving faster than you, that's why you can't move backwards, because the platforms is moving backwards even faster. The speed, it just keeps increasing. Thanks!

Cool idea. Very, very difficult though. Some of those structures are hard to get through.

Wow, this is brutally hard at first but really addictive once you get into a rhythm. Great use of the theme, lovely responsive controls and nice sounds. As someone who's woefully bad at reflex based games I'd love to see an easy mode added that either widened the field of play, or slowed things down a little bit, or both. I will definitely come back to this later! I'd also make it possible to skip the intro/instructions screens with a keypress.

Quite nicely implemented, the transitions between shapes look really nice :)

I keep getting stumped at that one wall where you have to change from horizontal to vertical real fast :c

I didn't understood how to get through "corner" tunnels. I think game needs to have some sort of tutorial level (at the beggining of the gane) where player can learn mechanics without being punished.

But game itself is great.

Really great game. I have just 2 things to say :
- I would like the game to be a little less fast at the beginning.
- I would like to have the

Really great game. I just would like the game to be slower at the beginning.

When I barely transformed into the rectangles to fit through the doorways for a few seconds in a row, I felt exhilarated! If you continue to design this, it seemed like sometimes I could be a rectangle facing a direction in a corridor not quite wide enough for it but I slid through.

The first play through was pretty random in my favor. I was getting cocky- it got harder!

Great game, you need some difficulty curve or a tutorial. Also a high score of some sort would be cool.

Once I'd survived long enough to figure out what the hell was going on, it was good! A simple take on the theme, but it works well.

This is a nice little game. I like the music! I just wish it would keep track of my score, that would make it pretty addicting :)
