It might need a few runs until you can play the game effectively. You might not want to start with normal if you don't understand the game :D\n\nIn the first try i built a few structures until i had no money. The beast ate something and for a few rounds nothing happened anymore. It's not very clear how the system works exactly (thus how to work with it to win somehow).\n\nBut what can you do ... it's a jam after all and it was refreshing to play some ASCII game for a change. And while you opted out of the graphic rating it looked cool somehow after all.","likes":0,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"KCreanor","author_uid":"1017807","time":"2017-05-16T07:21:08Z","epoch":1494919268,"modified":1494919268,"text":"I love these kinds of games and they are very hard to do right! This is all round a great effort and the ASCII style is absolutely amazing, I have no idea how you managed to get it looking like that in that amount of time! I certainly didn't see that final battle coming. I found the battle actually to be more fun than the turn-based part before that: I felt that I didn't really knew what I did, but the stats worked out fine in the end anyway, leaving me with the impression that my actions didn't really matter (maybe they really did, and I just got lucky).\n\nP.S.: ASCII Art is super cool!","likes":0,"format":"md"}],"format":"md","images":[],"links":[],"metadata":{"g_key":"44759","g_author":"1014019","g_event":"LD38","g_eventkey":"69","g_subevent":"JAM","g_urlkey":"235794","g_title":"Number of The Beast","g_status":"USEAR3","g_place":"99999","g_commentcount":"4","g_site2_node_id":"17518","g_hide":"Y","g_has_icon":"N","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":{"n_key":"17518","n_urlkey":"235794","n_parent":"9405","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/38\/number-of-the-beast","n_slug":"number-of-the-beast","n_type":"item","n_subtype":"game","n_subsubtype":"jam","n_author":"14019","n_created":"1492817531","n_modified":"1493076804","n_version":"56509","n_status":"COMMIT"},"node":{"id":17518,"parent":9405,"superparent":9,"author":14019,"type":"item","subtype":"game","subsubtype":"jam","published":"2017-04-24T23:33:24Z","created":"2017-04-21T23:32:11Z","modified":"2017-04-24T23:33:24Z","version":56509,"slug":"number-of-the-beast","name":"Number of The Beast","body":"![cover512.png](\/\/\/raw\/3c6\/3\/z\/19dd.png)\n\nNumber of the Beast is a console turn-based strategy game heavily inspired by the game hammurabi.
