Siofra by QuestionableQuality

[raw]
made by QuestionableQuality for LD35 (JAM)
Tales of faeries, myths of old, adventures to suit the brave and bold. And deep in the forest a child sings...

'Siofra' is less a game and more an experimental VR experience for two of the members of Questionable Quality. Leaving the artist (Alice 'Buttons' Kensington) in charge of story, sounds, and visual direction, she wanted to see what sort of short story she could make in a Virtual Reality world, and something perhaps a concept for a future project. The managing director (Matt Norman) took charge of Unity programming and coding, as well as the animations.

Although nothing perfect, it was definitely a lot of fun to get used to what can and can't be done when working with 2D. Unfortunately we lost access to our VR device by the time we were done too, so we were unable to test its performance before uploading.

Looks great, it's really cool what you do with 2D in 3D.

Woah, this was wonderful even if a bit short-lived experience! I slightly missed the ability to walk or interact with something though so for a while I felt a bit "stuck" and unsure whether I was supposed to do something or not. Still, great execution (lovely style)!

Wow. This takes the cake for the mood category.

I'm not in the business of saying what is or isn't a game but lets call this one an 'experience'-- a short but engaging one

It also scared the shit out of my 2 year old daughter, haha

Really great mood! I included it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare games, if you’d like to check them out :) https://youtu.be/PdAuylbesI0

Loved the creepiness that came with the style. This is definitely more of an experience than it is a game though.

Holy hell this scared me so badly. This is why I don't play horror games xD

This takes the cake in terms of mood, the ambient sounds and creepy visuals, even the choppy animations, contributing greatly.

Wonderful entry, good luck!

Great using of the sound and 2D to make a vr experience. I would have liked to have more game in it, but as an experience experiment is good and moody.

Great addition to ludum dare entries, game with superb atmosphere. One disadvantage of this VR experience is that is short :)

This could possibly be the best "experience" that anyone has made in this competition so far.

A great "mood piece", probably a little lost on me without a VR headset? Quality art and creepy atmosphere, but no gameplay to enjoy it with.

Creepy stuff. I really wanted to leg it but I guess being frozen to the spot with fear made sense.
