Perfectly Normal Inc. by Apple Dash

[raw]
made by Apple Dash for LD 43 (COMPO)

You are playing an assistant to the regional manager of a huge, perfectly normal corporation that does buisness and money-related stuff. Your job is to steal people and make sacrifices to please Satan. However, 4 factions that own The Board don’t really like when you kill their people, so you have to balance Souls intake, your money and attitude of these factions towards you.

The game is quite cool, but sometimes player has to search for the "event button" somewhere behind the UI on the left side

The visual style is very nice and the game idea fits the theme very well. However I did find myself clicking the Turn button to get the charity event to get more souls because I run out of reputation with other factions. It's a great game!

It's a good game :)

A slightly easier to understand tutorial would have been appreciated as it took a lot of reading to get the hang of it, but once I worked out how to play it was fun.

One of the few Ludum Dare games that I've spent a solid amount of time playing without getting frustrated or bored. It's got a very addictive gameplay loop.

My only complaints are that I wish I had a rare or expensive way to boost my favor with a faction after I had spent it, because with the actions currently available the game reaches a state where you can't take any more actions to try and finish the game. You just have to rely on random events, which isn't fun.

Other than that, I just want more of this! More actions! More factions! More buildings to invest in! More events!

Fantastic entry. I loved it.

Also, I thought the void faction's icon was very clever, and it made me laugh out loud when I figured out what you did there.

@erasmus-crowley god dammit, I knew I shound't have left out "get out of jail free" once-per-game abilities, that would reset factions' attitude towards you. Anyway, thanks for the comprehensive comment :)

pretty fun game but took me a bit to understand what to do, also it seems a bit broken that you can just keep spamming the turn button, otherwise it was visually pleasing and had enough dialogue to keep it engaging.

Neat game! Kinda confusing at first, but not that hard to figure out. Would be great if there were some kind of feedback when changing turn.

Fun game! I'd say this could work brilliantly as a phone, perhaps with more upgrades and reason for getting souls rather than just to win, have a cookie clicker esqe system where souls can buy graveyards to get more souls (Or whatever) The graphics are basic and slightly unclear at times (I think a glitch caused one of the squares to not show the person I was affecting a couple of times)

The factions (In my experience) always seem to dislike me less and less and I didn't really notice aside from the bar going down (Except triangle bro but we cool) Also if I had more choice in who I affected rather than just spamming the turn button until snail bros or police bros showed up (I never felt like I was affecting the other two, I must have since the void did go down) And as @erasmus-crowley said, More actions, More factions, more buildings and more events! This is a very expandable game and with some polish could be great!

Nice entry :) I think that there is a scaling problem with the pixel art haha (the buildings)

I invested in two buildings and the game was pretty easy, you could make it more interesting by increasing the number of souls required and adding a way to gain faction points

I liked the idea but it's strange to me that you don't need money for anything aside from some events. This lead to me just kidnapping somebody every turn and easily winning. With a bit more balancing and something that relies on money maybe buying attitude back this could be a good game. Also it's a bit strange that you can't go below 30 attitude but it's not shown visually on the bar where 30 attitude is. The graphics worked well imo. Overall nice idea but it needs a bit more work.

Neat game! I thought from the screen shots it would be a city builder game, but its more of an adventure game. I was able to win by just constantly taking souls without worrying too much about the factions though.

Although gameplay was like "Get 2 acquisitions and then skip turns, while waiting for freeze rep random events", I liked those random events and game idea.

And I found a bug, you can scale avatars of fractions on the city map by clicking on them.

Interesting game! I like the graphics and the The Office references  Good job getting a nice game submitted in time! Speaking of time... I hate to ask, but play+rate time is running short and I need a few more ratings, so if you could spare a few minutes and try my game too I would really appreciate it!
