It was a cool take on the theme, deciding which order to go in add a strategic layer to it, I thought that was neat. The distinct designs for the different robots looked good as well. What I liked most were the transitions, both the effects of winning/failing and the funny flavor texts between rounds, those really added personality to the game. Cool stuff!
Cons: Sometimes it is hard to see a difference between the core system and bugs, a more different design for one of them could help. Also, it is hard to find bugs in time, maybe a longer timer or making spawn more bugs (even if it would be against the lore) would help
Overall: a great game with a nice concept
- Why is the game so BIG? I had to download 400MB. For a Ludum Dare game, that's HUGE! I understand you made it with Unreal, but isn't there a way to make it lighter?
- What's the point of moving at all? The game was a lot easier when I just stood in place and shooting whatever was coming after me. I got 20/20 without moving.
Despite that, I still think this is a great entry :-) I like the idea of sacrificing more and more features and I like the little cutscene after winning or losing.
Sacrificing light is the worst in my opinion. I preferred to do it at the end.
On top of that, the graphics and music are well done! I can tell you put some hard work to make different models for each character. I think they are gorgeous!
Congratulations for making this game!
Even 100MB would be better, I think. But yeah, I know the struggle with engines like that and Unreal in particular.
We have fixed IA perception wich should create more challenge in DebugTime
The game is very luck based, since the Bugs just wander around the map (even to locations that the player just left).
