Rogue Race by Groggi

[raw]
made by Groggi for LD 41 (JAM)

A rougelike racing game, or a racing roguelike game? You are about to survive the most dangerous racing track: The Trail. It leads you through unexplored lands: Rainforests, deserts, plains and mountains. Which route will you take? Which decisions will you make? Do you want to explore, take a chance to gain more points, or will you take the shortest, safest way?

You start with:

5 HEALTH, 5 FUEL, 1 SPEED

The more FUEL you take with you, the slower you get. The more HEALTH you have, the more SPEED you gain. The more SPEED you gain, the farther yout get with 1 FUEL.

It is my first Ludum Dare and actually my first game ever made. I made it with PHP and JavaScript, since they are the only languages I know... :)

Very interesting game, I love the graphics. A neat mesh of genres, very simple

The idea is nice, but the various choices seem a bit too much repetitive, you could have tried to make different encounters with different choices, overall i enjoyed this, got 3300 score, keep goin!

I got 3200 score. Very interesting idea, love the graphics. Unfortunatly encounters get repetitive pretty fast.

Loved it! I got 1900. The graphics are excellent, but the lack of variety hits very fast. Despite that, it's a great jam game, so congratulations!

Loved the graphic style of the game and the concept is pretty cool :) But as for me there is not enought event, which makes the game repetitive :/ but very good job for a first solo Jam ;)
And please don't hesitate to give us feedback on our game ;) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/wheres-waldy/

@Lazlo319, @Andreadbx, @Azargaz, @elHombreBanana, @borkleby, @FouchouMaximilien, Thank you all so much for your Feedback! Yes, my plan was to implement much more events and choices, but I didn't have the time to do so. Maybe I will do it in the future!

I will give your games a try these days!

Really cool graphic style! Gameplay reminds me of some aspects of FTL. Very creative and funny encounters - I like it!

Interesting concept/use of theme! I like the minimalistic graphics/color scheme. It's tough but that's what I expect in a roguelike. I got 1800 score (and lower haha) good job!

I really like the mix of this. It looks really good and I had fun playing it. The UI could be a bit more present, first it was hard to see what happens when a Button was clicked. Awesome job on this one! :)

I love the minimalistic style. And kudos for the movement interface - it fits very well in overall turn-based structure.

I actually got lucky on my first try and reached 4450! Never managed to get close to that again. Great concept and nice art. Aside from the missing music, my only complaint would be that the decisions seem a bit random. Or maybe I just missed the pattern behind them?
