Bar Fighter - Dating sim + Fighting game by Pixelome
Life's hard for a bro, but do not despair my supreme dude. There is an app for that. "Bar Fighter" helps you find likeminded bros to get that extra energy out with a good old street fight. There is a convenient chat system so you can find out if you really dislike each other. No point in fighting a potential buddy!

This is my entry for LD41, it's a mashup of a dating sim and a fighting game. The total time was 25 hours.
I spent too much time on drawing the outfits and making the chat system look nice. I could have used that time to tune up the fighting mechanics, but regardless I'm pretty pleased with the results.
Tools used: Unity, Bosca Ceoil, Pixelmator, Visual Studio

Otherwise the fighting part is really well done, Gratz !
As @SecondDimension said, mashing buttons was the key for me as well haha. And I wouldve liked to have a bit more time in the tinder Phase. Also some more visual feedback would be awesome.
I really liked the idea and the implementation of it, well done!
@designernap thanks for the kind words  :v:
I was kind of abrupt end and the transition from being on the ground, beaten up to the rather upbeat music in the title/instructions screen.
It would have been nice if the name of the other fighter carried over to the fighting scene and possibly that they'd yell some of the shit they believed in.
Regarding the end transition, I originally planed to have the defeated character say some phrases but I ran out of time. In the end I'm pretty happy with the transition as it is. The abruptness and the contrast to me is a reflection on how little the fight actually meant, it's a commentary on modern dating, swipe, f*** and move on. As a corollary, I wanted to anonymize the other fighter. Originally I wanted to have different meaningless names such as "the other guy", "that dude" etc, but ran out of time.
I'm getting too philosophical for my liking  Thanks for the thoughtful feedback :v:
The dating part is very easy, and the fighting part seems to lack strategy. The graphics set the mood, but I feel like the music took away from the mood. That being said I had a lot of fun playing the game and had a chuckle.
Great work :)
@veztron I'm glad you had a laugh, I was writing the dialogue at 3 in the morning  Regarding the music, I attempted to make the dating part relaxed and the fighting tense. Unfortunately, music is not one of my strong suits, I will have to work on that for future jams. Thanks for the feedback
But it does the job, and it's totally on point with the theme.
Good job "bro" ;)
@simianlogic I would have liked to expand a bit more on the chat system but I was already in a crunch. The cooldown bar represents stamina, it's my way of preventing players from just spamming a button and winning, but obviously there are some combos that are more effective than others  I would have liked to have different strategies for different opponents, but I ran out of time :( Thanks for the feedback
The game was cool, well done! (y)
