Game-crashin bug has been fixed!
I'm halfway done with the Inability to Swim, Quests to complete to gain levels, Talking to townsfolk, and Stronger enemies! But I hope you enjoy it for now!

hm... Seems to be working on my end. Try https://bit.ly/2HS7zED . It plays in-browser, so it should be at the top of that page.
I'm thinking of this of a post-jam game where you can exp through the map killing weak monsters but hiding from those that are too strong, and also choose a faction to conquest the continent!
Plz do a post-jam game, the "one map, one character as head" + rpg is really nice!
That's exactly what I'm going for!! :D I'm really looking forward to adding more content and perfecting gameplay!
I'm excited to see future updates to the game!
Some things I was confused on
-Does the player have health?
-Can I interact with the small towns and stuff? It would be cool if they gave you quests (but understandable if this is out of your scope)
-Is there a point to leveling up?
Again good game so far and I can't wait to see the final product!
-The player dies if he tries to defeat a baddie that has a higher level than him. I just added that to the game. ^-^
-The small towns will soon have more characters in it, and if you return to the city, the girl will talk with you about random stuff and suggest missions and items to find! Working on that now!
-Leveling up currently only changes your Level (top right) and your Title (top left). You grow from the Baker's Son, to Adventurer, to Knight, to Hero.
-I also just added progressive leveling up, so it's harder to gain levels. :) In about 5 hours, I should have the last Ludum build up, hopefully with two or three items/missions!
ADDED:
-Break the Boulder Quest
-Receive an Item from 1 townsfolk
-Progressive level gain gives you a better Title
-More sounds
COMING SOON:
-Water Collision
-Health levels instead of Instant Death and respawn
-More cities
-More characters
-More quests
-Specific areas = Specific countries!
-Join a faction!
Honestly, you guys have been so supportive, and I’ve been so inspired, I’ll be keeping the project going after Ludlum!
So follow me at https://hannahwebb42.itch.io/, and stay tuned for more updates! :D

FIXED BUG:
Bad guy levels now show correctly and you will take damage if they are a higher level than you.
ADDED: Health hearts instead of just instant death

@fernando-labarta @darylsteak, thanks for playing! There's a lot of room for growth, but I have a LOT more planned to be added to it in the next week or so, including several quests and more characters. Now that I have the base code down for how that works, it'll be a lot easier to add more!
@gavin-camlin thanks for revisiting the game and giving more feedback! I will definitely add more effects to character damage (it has a sound, but it turned out way quieter than it should be).
Interesting on Combat. I guess I kept it as simple as possible for now. I'll put some thought into it and see what I can do! I'll @ you if the itchio upload gets updated.
@redhatto I agree, a unified pixel count looks better. But when dealing with a single-screen open world, I definitely needed space on the map. It'll make more sense when I add the country borders, why the castle needs to be so small, but the character needs to be big enough to see. :)
Great work!
