Blackout: Security Breach by The-iron

[raw]
made by The-iron for LD 39 (JAM)

In the depths of a facility designed to house the most dangerous, most mysterious evils, a fuse burns out. You are a lowly security guard, unprepared for the monsters which flood the hallways when the power goes off. As you flee from the horrors chasing you, the emergency power reserves are depleting--supplies are running low, and even the highest-security cells are opening...

Arrow keys to move, x for shotgun, z to punch.

Author's Note: A few people have had trouble fighting the eyeballs. The trick is to run behind them--if they're facing you, they'll damage you if you touch them.

Any chance for a Mac or Linux version? I only have Linux and I'd be interested in playing your game.

The gameplay looks fine except for how the punching works. There are no clear indication when it is safe to perform a melee attack without getting hurt by enemies attack.

Other than that, the art style is consistent and the sound effect is decent!

Hey so I tried out your game, I think there's a bug though.

Two enemies start on the screen and no more spawn in. I killed both of them and ran around left and right for about a minute and nothing else happened.

I love your running animation though, it's really really cool.

Fun game! The main character punching animation was super smooth.

The game was really well balanced. I was out of ammo and low on health just in time for the re-suppy points.

Biggest downside is that I didn't find any way to punch/kill the eyeballs without losing 1 heart (if my shotgun was empty). If I saw 1 on the screen after i'd already expended my ammo, and I had 1 heart, I knew it was game over.

Reminded me of the flash games I used to play as a child. I like it!

I like the art, simple as it may be, and the sound design is pretty good too. The combat is really entertaining, but I found the ammunition to be a little too limited - punching can only go so far in certain situations, especially when the enemies get "balled up" in one location. Despite this added challenge, I enjoyed this little game!

I actually enjoyed this game quite a lot. The graphics were a nice change of pace and the sfx were well done. However, the one thing that stood out to me was the running animation as I think it could be improved. Overall nicely done!
