made by DoctorMozart for LD 42 (JAM)

Gutted Goblin Trading Co is a Fantasy themed, warehouse management game.

In it, you play as a lone forklift driver, attempting to get as many deliveries out the door before the timer runs out. But watch out! Inventory stacks up in the warehouse faster than you can manage.

One of my favorites so far! It gets pretty chaotic after a while, but that's just more fun to be had. Could spend next to hours playing this. Nice one!

Great use of the theme for the game jam. Control was hard for me since I kept on wanting to turn it with WASD like a top down view rather than playing the directions from the forklift's point of view. Took me a bit to figure out I didn't actually need to "pick up" the boxes, just need to push them :) It was fun watching me fail though.

Beautiful game, lovely soundtrack, and a good time. It would have been cool if there was in incinerator or something to trash extra crates. I like to think the forklift driver is a goblin.

Fun game! I liked the mix of Diner Dash gameplay with an actual character you control. That said I felt like tank controls were a strange choice for a control scheme, or at least I wouldn't have used w for throttle. That felt especially confusing since the gameplay primarily involves moving horizontally. Other than that, I enjoyed it a lot. Great work!

Wow it's really fun to drive the forklift and knock everything around!! Sometimes you gotta go all the way in the back to get your big red monster. Is this what it's like to work in the amazon workhouse?
super fun! :)

@matt-fabius, I was curious how people would feel about tank controls. I know they are either loved or hated. As a huge classic Resident Evil fan, I feel like I was raised on them, haha. Thanks for playing!

@chelc I'm glad you enjoyed it! When making it, I kept trying to come up with a Punny name for the game involving the Amazon Warehouse, so I'm happy you were reminded of that as well.

@caerul It does get pretty hectic at times! Picking up the crates is definitely the dominant strategy, hehe, but I'm glad that pushing them around worked for you. :smile_cat:

@doctormozart Tank controls are fine. I was just saying I thought it was a strange choice for this particular game.

Cool game. I like the music. It was very fun to control the forklift and bumping into boxes.

It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of the controls, but that's not a big deal. However, I do feel that the icons for the boxes in the delivery area could have been more clear. I didn't know which boxes were supposed to go to which area the first time I played it. Apart from that, I really enjoyed the game. Good job!

@keyurrana Thank you for playing! I'm glad we could provide you your box bumping experience! That is some good feedback, I think that @doctormozart and I will likely revisit this game after the voting is done and making the UI a little more obvious is at the top of my list.

@matt-fabius Yeah, the controls aren't super obvious. I think if @doctormozart and I were to expand this we'd have some warm-up levels so that you have a little more experience with a less hectic experience. I wanted to emulate driving an actual forklift. Do you think it might be easier if we were to enable the arrow keys as a control option?

Really wonderful. The music was so fitting and perfect.. it made it such a peaceful and fun experience moving boxes around.. almost in a zen like state of organizing/sorting, even with the chaos of the inbound conveyor belts.

@redhermit Thank-you for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the music. At first I found it an amusing juxtaposition to the chaos going on around you, however, after playing testing it a lot, I've noticed it helps create a nice "flow-state".

That was fun! Took me a moment to figure out the meaning of the icons in the UI (my fault for initially skipping the controls overview), but once I saw that I had a good time. The forklift drove really well, too.

Really nice game. Well done with the look and sound. The only thing that annoyed me was that the icons for the boxes on the UI were not really looking like the boxes so that I got confused wich boxes I need (especially the two with the blue in them).

Pretty fun! It took a little while to figure out how to actually make things happen but there's something particularly satisfying about how it handles.
