Run Away the Simulation by CapitanRetraso

[raw]
made by CapitanRetraso for LD 41 (COMPO)

This is a clicker-platformer game where the difficulty is based on your multitasking capabilities.

Are you able to keep clicking and complete the level at the same time? If you get distracted for more than 1 second it's probably over.

CONCEPT

Complete the level. Your health rapidly decreases every second, to restore it you need to click as fast as you can (like you would do in cookie clicker for example)

You are granted with a 3 second immunity period at the start of the level so you don't have to destroy your mouse as soon as you enter it.

CONTROLS

A - Move left

D - Move right

SPACEBAR - Jump (keep pressed if you are on top of a super jump platform)

LMB - Regenerates some HP (smash it to stay alive!)

G - Can't you keep up with the pressure? Does your brain panic when doing 2 things at a time? Worry not! Press this button after the immunity period and your health won't decrease over time. (Traps still hurt you)

I don't know if you are a superhumanoid robot or if i'm a noob ^^ But I didn't manage to go far without the "G" button help.
The graphics are super cool and the controls too once you get them. But the difficulty is soooo hight, to much for me at least ^^

That's what i call a hard game. It's a pretty smooth movementation, i really like it. You also made a really good concept for the theme. I'm definitely giving you a 5 on Theme. Nice job =D

Good job, interesting idea and very unique to add that clicker to the platformer aspect. I found the game relatively easy but definitely had a few moments of looking at my hands to consider what to press next. The game has a good sense of urgency as you rush through even though I felt the audio could have used a little more work.

Got stuck in the ground lol, pretty fun. I see cookie clickers as like an idle leisure game, where this it is necessary to click at a certain speed. Would be cool if the bar was right above the player or something so you don't have to look up. good job!

Holy moly what a lot to take in.

very stressful to explore the map and experiment with all the mashing. i'm not sure this is the best use of idle/clicker mechanics to mesh with the game. maybe a idle mechanics to make ammo?

the platforming is soly, the art is glitch and cute. had a lot of fun even if im really bad at it! c:

It seems like a good platformer with a great aesthetic, but the clicking only makes it artificially frustrating. If you want to do something like that, I think it should be actually integrated into the gameplay. Good thinking adding the G button cheat.

Its surprising how much clicking to keep the health up adds to the feeling of urgency to rush through the level.

At first I felt the clicker part of the game rather arbitrary (and part of me still think it is). However it does change how the game feels, there is this constant clicking pressure and if you stop, you die. To make it less arbitrary I would love to see the clicker part of the game better explored, it could even become an even more nonsense clicker mechanics, but adding depth to it would definitely increase the quality of the game, or show that the genres are very incompatible (which is the direction I would like to see the game going).
Other than that, I would add some visual/audio feedback for when damage is taken, since I only realized that the glitchy things damaged me after trying the game with the G key.
Loved the visuals, would love to see them explored to become even glitchier (perhaps clicking could make the game more or less glitchy).
Other than that, congrats on the game!

My hand is tired now, but that was fun, and a good take on the theme. I especially love the art and style in this. Great job!
