It took me a awhile to figure out that bat form would take up evil power, which is kind of unfortunate, given how much I enjoyed attacking people in bat form.
It was really fun to eat all those poor people xD
Nice graphics too! The music is a little repetitive.
Really great job!
Funny / interesting take on the theme.^^
Good music and art style, I liked the little puddle of blood after each meal. The idea to draw the "line of sight" of the monks using the candle they carry was a good idea.
Poor vampire, always chased for their biological needs. :/ If people didn't want to be eat, they should sell blood bottles at the marketplace.
Nice job! :)
The sound was also too loud, having a button to disable or adjusting the sound would be nice too.
Besides, the monk was difficult to identify, I had to die for him the first time to know that he was a monk, not another type of villager.
Other than that, the mechanics of turning and attacking humans is pretty cool, it would be interesting to watch this game continue.
I think it suffers from a lack of content, although the general gameplay loop was enjoyable I think either going for the 'feel' of the current gameplay, or adding additional depth to the gameplay would have improved this greatly.
Some sort of sound cues for killing or transforming, anyhting to break up the background music. I will say I didn't enjoy the control scheme, but that's just personal preference, there was no issue with it.
Some bugs I found, eventually the religious AI stopped moving completely and were stationary for random periods of time.
Maybe not a bug, but I was also able to kill villagers within the religious dudes light radius and get away quite easily.
Good take on the theme, decent audio, great visuals. Overall a solid entry, good work!
It had an interesting feel/aesthetic to it: the music was very good in that regard, but I think everything being red-tinted might have been a bit hard on the eyes. It's a solid entry I think, well done!
Music was chill, graphics were tight:) I love the vampire king:D
This game was K I C K I N G _ R A D!!!
I loved the mechanics. Unfortunately I died to an enemy as he spawned on top of me ( U N R A D )
I believe some sort of reaction from the villagers could be good, and make it more of a stealth game would be an interesting one, but it's a good entry for the jam atm.
I like the audio, but not much the genral brown-redish tone, which I find, hurts the readability.
Good job!
I died to the same instant kill from a spawn that other commenters mentioned, but I just avoided standing near the doors and that worked. Not sure I agree the bar depletes too quickly either. It depletes quickly in bat mode, but you have to just use that very sparingly. And the dangerous villagers are really clear because they have the ring of light. It took me four or five losses to get the hang of all that, but once I did I felt like I could basically go infinite if I was careful enough.
The strong elements here were the art and music which created a great thematic mood. If there were also nice sound effects it would have really nailed the feel.
The gameplay idea was good, and I certainly had some moments that got exciting. But there was something a little off about the play experience, and I got a little bored eventually. I think it was a combination of small things: core challenge was a bit too easy, but when I did fail it was instant death, and the core movement of WASD walking around was not inherently exciting.
Another small nitpick: the game is a 2-handed keyboard game, but then I have to use the mouse to navigate the menu system.
So this is a strong entry, it had very good presentation and theme, and the gameplay was interesting to explore even if it had something a bit off. Nice work!
Additionally, it feels like moving diagonally is faster than right/left/top/bottom.
It looks kind of strange that the light cycles are overlaying. Some sort of shader might work.
Also, sound effects for transforming or flying would be great.
But overall good job for a few days :)
