I definitely enjoyed the art. It was a little unclear which villagers were the ones to avoid at first, but you get the hang of it. Felt satisfying to turn into a bat. It took a few lives for me to get into the groove of feeding on the peasants. There were a few times where they didn't spawn or spawned just a bit out of my reach.

You really nailed a retro feel, I love the style. Pretty fun, and gripping!

The power of evil! Something oddly satisfying about demolishing someone by flying into their face in bat form. The splatters of the blood marking where your victims perished was an excellent touch.

It took me a awhile to figure out that bat form would take up evil power, which is kind of unfortunate, given how much I enjoyed attacking people in bat form.

I enjoyed the idea of having to balance between shapeshifting to stay alive and conserving power to, well, also stay alive! It gets a little crazy as the game goes on and more hunting villagers spawn (I only got to 1650 score though, dunno if that is good or not), and I feel like to balance out having to use your bat form more often, normal villagers should spawn more as well. Fun little game though!

I dig the theme. The bat bar may drain too quickly, and too much of it feels up to chance... similar balancing issues we were having. Fundamentally you made a very similar game to us!

Super nice game. The only complaint I had is most likely how the bar depleted way too quick.... like it almost gone in not even 10 seconds. Other than that, top notch art, mood, and simple and fun gameplay!

I like the style of the game, and a little problem in the beginning is to now what is a villager and what is a monk, but when you die by a monk, you know how to identify them.

Cool game, love its mood! As some other people here, at first I had some trouble distinguishing the monks from the villagers. Good job though!

Good game! I love this retro style. We also had the idea of doing a vampire game, nice to see someone doing it.

I really like this game, nice and simple concept. I loved to be shapeshifted!!!
It was really fun to eat all those poor people xD

Nice graphics too! The music is a little repetitive.

Really great job!

I love the graphics of this game! I think its a bit too easy(I was able to get up to 80 kill) but its still fun gameplay. I also really liked the music, it really added to the mood and vibe of the game!

It was fun to wander around the place, eating people and flap flapping around monks.

Funny / interesting take on the theme.^^

Good music and art style, I liked the little puddle of blood after each meal. The idea to draw the "line of sight" of the monks using the candle they carry was a good idea.

Poor vampire, always chased for their biological needs. :/ If people didn't want to be eat, they should sell blood bottles at the marketplace.

Nice job! :)

I find all red texture unnecessary, even if to represent the vampire's vision and his thirst for blood. If instead you had just made people pounding red in the rhythm of heartbeat, I think it would have gotten better.
The sound was also too loud, having a button to disable or adjusting the sound would be nice too.
Besides, the monk was difficult to identify, I had to die for him the first time to know that he was a monk, not another type of villager.
Other than that, the mechanics of turning and attacking humans is pretty cool, it would be interesting to watch this game continue.

The art style was nice and simple, I think the red tinting works well for the general theme of the game.
I think it suffers from a lack of content, although the general gameplay loop was enjoyable I think either going for the 'feel' of the current gameplay, or adding additional depth to the gameplay would have improved this greatly.

Some sort of sound cues for killing or transforming, anyhting to break up the background music. I will say I didn't enjoy the control scheme, but that's just personal preference, there was no issue with it.

Some bugs I found, eventually the religious AI stopped moving completely and were stationary for random periods of time.
Maybe not a bug, but I was also able to kill villagers within the religious dudes light radius and get away quite easily.

Good take on the theme, decent audio, great visuals. Overall a solid entry, good work!

Alright game, I enjoyed the difficulty ramping up over time (by the end, it was really difficult to find normal humans).

It had an interesting feel/aesthetic to it: the music was very good in that regard, but I think everything being red-tinted might have been a bit hard on the eyes. It's a solid entry I think, well done!

I really enjoyed the first kill because I felt like I had to stalk him, wait for him to come out of his house...and then pounce! But then I realize none of the villagers care lol. It would be a lot more fun if you had to sneak around a little bit to get your kills, and if the people showed basic intelligence (like running from a murder or the church-goers running toward it to find you).

Music was chill, graphics were tight:) I love the vampire king:D

What an awesome game! The art was great and the dark red lighting captured the tone of the game perfectly! The music was also pretty good, although some sound effects would have been nice. Good job guys!

Great idea! Also the game looks very good and feels really polished and complete. The only thing I'd say it has to be balanced out a little better, I slayed 94 people and then died because it became very hard to find enough blood to satisfy my thirst. Other that that, one of the best entries I've seen so far.

Very nice music and graphics. Got to 6700 some points. Loved the idea of a vampire and the concept of running around as a vampire killing townsfolk while avoiding monks. Solid entry, nice work!

Great game! The only issue I had was that the religious people were spawning right in front of me and instant killed me. But other than that I enjoyed playing it! Graphics and audio are really good!

The game looks nice and the audio is awesome but I feel that gameplay wise, it gets a little boring and it lacks some variety but the different kinds of people help ! I just feel that it gets boring quick.

I'm no big fan of vampire stuff, but shapeshifting into a bat and preying on peaceful people felt oddly satisfying. I tried to avoid the light at first because I thought it we be bad for vampire, but it was alright...

I believe some sort of reaction from the villagers could be good, and make it more of a stealth game would be an interesting one, but it's a good entry for the jam atm.

I like the audio, but not much the genral brown-redish tone, which I find, hurts the readability.

Good job!

I played a bunch, and got to 81 victims (8 thousand-something points), the town was absolutely swarming with vampire hunters by the time I was finally cornered / stopped trying.

I died to the same instant kill from a spawn that other commenters mentioned, but I just avoided standing near the doors and that worked. Not sure I agree the bar depletes too quickly either. It depletes quickly in bat mode, but you have to just use that very sparingly. And the dangerous villagers are really clear because they have the ring of light. It took me four or five losses to get the hang of all that, but once I did I felt like I could basically go infinite if I was careful enough.

The strong elements here were the art and music which created a great thematic mood. If there were also nice sound effects it would have really nailed the feel.

The gameplay idea was good, and I certainly had some moments that got exciting. But there was something a little off about the play experience, and I got a little bored eventually. I think it was a combination of small things: core challenge was a bit too easy, but when I did fail it was instant death, and the core movement of WASD walking around was not inherently exciting.

Another small nitpick: the game is a 2-handed keyboard game, but then I have to use the mouse to navigate the menu system.

So this is a strong entry, it had very good presentation and theme, and the gameplay was interesting to explore even if it had something a bit off. Nice work!

Nice entry! Al lot of the points are already mentioned in the comments above.
Additionally, it feels like moving diagonally is faster than right/left/top/bottom.
It looks kind of strange that the light cycles are overlaying. Some sort of shader might work.
Also, sound effects for transforming or flying would be great.
But overall good job for a few days :)
