Shovel vs deforestation by chispaLBC

About the game: The deforestation is out of control. Your mission is to stop anyone who wants to hurt a tree. Efforts to stop deforestation have been attempted for many centuries because it can cause environmental damage sufficient in some cases to cause societies to collapse, this time, our planet.
Everything made by me for my first attempt at LD!
(Note: There is a bug that makes enemies stop spawning at a random level, the game didn't finish :( sorry ). (I think it's fixed!)

Anyway, fun little game, thanks for sharing :) (even though the combination of music and going round made me a little dizzy)
I think after I reached Level 17 there were no new UFOs. I'm not sure if this was the actual end but at least I was safe and managed to secure 4 trees :smile:
* I liked the graphics!
* The shovel swinging animation was nice!
* The SFX were good.
* The tree-defending system was really cool!
****Minor Nitpicks:****
* The others mentioned the game randomly stopping, but I guess I got even less lucky than them. Mine stopped at level 5...
****Great job and thanks!****
- Controls are simple and easy to pick up on
- Hit box for when attacking enemies seems rather large at times, can hit them from 3 people away but also not a bad thing considering how quickly things will escalate.
- Slight layering bug where your character is overlapped by the enemies arms and you can be sandwhiched between them (just something I noticed)
- Some way to end the alien lumberjack invasion after game over would be good. Technically I could probably leave it run till it crashes lol since they continue to spawn and can also continue to rack up the score.
- A way to regrow trees to allow for extended gameplay might be good too.
Enjoyed playing it!
Overall, I think this was pretty well put together. You have a playable condition, some nice looking art, good sound effects and a music track to boot. The musical loop is catchy, albeit it does start to get a bit annoying after several repetitions.
As I was playing, I noticed I could actually hit lumberjacks that were quite far away from the character if I rapidly pressed the E key. It got to the point, in one level, where they looked as though they were randomly dying, but I guess the game was still inputting my attack even after I let go of the key.
- I would have preferred to have the attack key mapped to something opposite WASD, like K or M, etc. This would give more control with the attacks rather than having to sacrifice jumping. I found myself using my right hand to press the E key at times.
- There was also a bit of a bug where lumberjacks could get stuck on the top of a tree, and they wouldn't move until that tree got cut down.

I enjoyed the humour and it was a sweet little game.
