TD Racing by AllesKapaul

* NOTE * The web player can be a bit lagging at times, for optimal experience I would recommend downloading the windows version.

The game I made is a mix between a Racing and a Tower Defense game. In this game you are not building the towers. Instead you are the pesky little car that tries to find its way to the goal.

You can control the car with either WASD or the arrow keys. Use space for breaking. If you have unlocked the ghost car you can use shift to turn invisible for a brief amount of time.

I only had time to create one level, but this level consists of 5 waves. Complete at least 3 to finish the level. You can always go for all 5 waves which will reward you with 3 stars!

I hope you enjoy the game!

Nice entry. The first car was hard to control though.
The game was fun though. This combination might actually work with some tweaking.

Controls are kind of weird at first. It feels too slow and unresponsive.
But good job on making this game!

The first car was very hard to control for me as well. It just wouldn't turn fast enough, then I would hit the wall and flip over. Good concept though, I could see it becoming a bigger game.

Very nice entry! The web player worked fine for me. However controlling the car was enormously difficult. I really liked the idea tho. I also could see how the terrain would play a very important role since it kind of allows you to "hide" from the towers while you are speeding by. The game didn't look too bad and was also coherent throughout the game. Nice try at making your own music, a bit repetitive but didn't really get irritating which is really good. The camera angle relative to the car was pretty weird (the car was in the bottom right corner?), not sure if that makes the racing easier, I would've prefferd a regular in-car or directly behind car angle.

Movement seemed to me a little uncomfortable. But I still enjoyed the ride!
Great work!

@bobismijnnaam Thank you for your awesome feedback. To answer your question. I placed the angle there because my car model didn't look all too well from rear perspective (at least for the first car, and later on I got used to it)

Nice graphics for a 48 hour game. I played the web version and it was very hard not to get hit and destroyed. But it is a good game.

Same as previous comments with controller, also I would un-parent the camera from the car and make it on some lerp + lookAt system, current setup makes me a bit dizzy. Good luck in the future.

The idea is really good, but the controls made the game nearly unplayable. The graphic and the music is okay, but it could have been better. I would liked a bit less content, but more instead some more polished contend.

I really like your idea of a tower defense/racing mix and I think you executed it pretty well, with the exception of the car controls. They feel quite a bit sluggish, making it hard to drive while also avoiding the projectiles from the towers, so if you plan on further developing the game, I think that would be a good place to start. Overall though, I had fun and I liked that there are different types of cars with their own unique playstyles. Nice work!

Good concept, but man, the controls are impossible. Every time I tried to take the first left turn, I would end up with so much rotational momentum that I would end up backwards. Then, every time I tried to turn right, I couldn't turn nearly fast enough.

As such, I didn't manage to make it past the finish line ever, or unlock any of the other cars.

I really like TD games, and I think this was an really interesting idea. I had difficulties handling the car, it often ended up upside down or backwards into the wall. But great idea. Good job.
