Judged! by LarrySeinfeld
Judged! is a justice simulation game where you sentence criminals to a number of days in jail or charge them a fine. If there is too many criminals out of jail and on the loose, then your city's population decreases, but there's only so much jail space so manage your criminals smartly and don't run out of space! Try to keep your population above 0 for as long as possible!
Notes:
- Look at wealth Status - poor can afford no more than $100-$500 fines, middle class can afford $1000-$2500, rich can afford $3000-5000
- Pay attention to population decrease - Each criminal has a population decrease based off their crime. The more threatening, the more likely it is you want to keep them in prison for a long period of time
- Upgrade your city -You'll have info on the right of the screen keeping you updated on when your next upgrade will come to help keep the population decrease down and increase your jail space and population. Be sure to nickel and dime those rich suckers!
- How many days can you last? - The goal of the game is to last as many days as possible, so go forth and seek justice
Controls:
- enter - confirm selection/skip text
- up arrow/down arrow - select options
- number Keys - input jail sentence/fine

I thought I might be able to break the balance by charging rich people exclusively, but turns out that caught up with me.
Fun and worth more than one try.
I would like to say I think there should be better correlation between population decrease and the severity of the described crime. I saw petty thieves with a population decrease rating WAY over that for arsonists. ^_^;
@ryusui Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I didn't really have much time to test balance, so it might be a little hard. As for the population decrease and crime associated with it, there is a correlation, but it just might be poorly implemented. I have values tied to victims, weapons, type of crime, and objects involved and combine them all to create the population decrease stat. Having played through it myself a few times now since submitting, I see what you mean. There are some harsh crimes with a low value and petty crimes with high values. My algorithm isn't great (should have given greater values for the crime itself than the objects and victims involved). It's something to work on. Thanks again!
Gameplay-wise, there was no reference point for the lengths of prison time, which made it a bit confusing. There was a reference point for fines, but it would be nice to have the dollar amounts you put in the description in the game itself somehow.
I also love the fact that a reasonable thing to do in this game is to give someone a $300 dollar fine for lighting a pencil on fire.
@carlos-giraldo Thanks for the feedback. Interesting suggestion, might be hard to give an indicator on that because part of the game is about finding what works and what doesn't and then trying to get a better score as you keep playing, but I'll take it into consideration.
@happyhour Glad you thought it was unique and addictive. I had trouble coming up with something super original, so I was worried the simplicity of the game would make it end up uninteresting. Thanks for the compliment on the charm and thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate it!

@alexkarate @konsumopfer77 Yeah, sorry guys. I knew there was an issue with resizing in my game and wanted to address it before the end of the jam, but I just didn't have enough time. Really sorry about that.
cause it really looks cool
im definitively gonna try the game next week from another pc and maybe it works there.

The game really is very good and well-rounded. It has something of a 'papers please' vibe to it. I feel like it could be made into a full game if you added more progression and mechanics to it.
