Compressor is a simple puzzle game where the goal is to place as many tetris-like pieces into a given area before the walls close in.

Controls Mouse - Pick up and place with left click Q / E - Rotate the piece you are currently holding WASD - slide the piece you are holding in any direction for easier precision

I hope you enjoy this small game I made for Ludum Dare 42! It's my first game jam, so any feedback is greatly appreciated!screenshot.png

1240!

Interesting concept!
A start menu (or just be able to wait a bit before jumping in the game loop) could have been good^^

Other thing, the game continues even if there aren't any pieces left out of the center, and you have to wait for seconds to the game end :/

But still, once you understand how it works, it's fun and, once again, I love the concept!

I really liked this! Its a cool take on Tetris.

It was fun moving the pieces around and trying to fit them into the box. Good Job!

Great entry! I liked the music and the sound effects and the concept was very creative! although the gameplay was a little dull after the first playthrough, perhaps some more variation in game mechanics would have helped.

I like it! Fun little application of tetrominos. Interesting since the time pressure is still there like in Tetris, but in a different way, with usable pieces disappearing.

Would have liked a "finish level" button, and randomized destination areas. Maybe something to add if you continue working on it. Good job!

Interesting take on tetrominos for sure, I could see playing this on mobile. The music was quite good as well! I'd love to have an option to fast-shrink the walls, and while the configurability was nice, perhaps some difficulty presets would be better. Overall, great entry!

This is a very enjoyable and unique gameplay but it can get a bit slow at times, the retro graphics are really nice :grinning:

This concept is an original twist on the Tetris formula! Also, that tune was kind of catchy :smirk:

This was interesting! I liked that I could change the difficulty and the music was good! I do agree with everybody else that some way of speeding up the walls when there's nothing left to do would help but other than that Its a good entry! Well done!

I like this take on the classic game. I think this is actually a pretty solid entry, especially for your first jam! The sound was fitting and didn't feel repetitive. The graphics were good, though the pieces felt very small. The time crunch is there, though I think that maybe the walls shouldn't start closing in until you select the first piece (just to give people time to study the board). Oh, also, I managed to get -3023400 points:
