Rumble Trouble by alexkarate

Oh no! The goblin island is all gone! You must lead them to the teleporter to escape, but be careful. The ground you stand on isn't quite durable...

This is my first submission and it was a interesting experience.

This is a simple turn-based puzzle game where you move from the start of the level to the end while collecting keys but the ground beneath you is falling.

Screenshot1.png

There are only 12 levels and they are quite short if you get them the first time, but hey! It's got full controller support!

Changelog:

1.2 - Fixed the end-game bug.

1.1 - Fixed the bug with the UI on level 10. Probably fixed the Mac version.

1.0 - The game.

Great game. Music is alright, so are the graphics. Puzzles don't get too difficult, or that's just me... There is still a curve in difficulty which is great, as well as new concepts like grounds that you can step on 2 times and 3 times.

I love the music and the concept. It fits the theme and the art is pretty good. However, it could deal with a bit more 'depth' (see what i did there?), Perhaps some more mechanics or some story :)

@krp what version of the game are you talking? Windows, Mac or Lunix?
I probably fixed the Mac version, thank you for finding the bug

That was awesome, the levels made you think a nice amount. I really like the music too, sort of unnerving but also fitting.

Nice game! I would have loved to see another mechanic in there (like sliding, portals or gates that require a certain key). The programmer art is cute, keep on jamming!

Hey cool! There were definitely a few thinking moments in there trying to workout the correct route. Great stuff.

I liked it! Simple but solid puzzle mechanics. I found the music a bit aggravating, but  for doing it. I found it a bit too easy to press the wrong key and walk off the edge, which I suppose it the point, but I think the challenge should be more about not painting yourself into a corner than fat fingers - so maybe prevent the player walking off the path?

The mechanic is not new. But it is impressive to see how many levels you've made..

I played it to the end, I like puzzle games! This was fun!
In the end I only got an error, no win screen.
I like the mood and the music! It fits, tricksy and goblin cave-y.
I think you should remake this with a bit refined pixel art and with more levels.

@bitofgold @dries-vuylsteke Thank you for your feedback! I probably won't be expanding this game any more without adding some new mechanics, which I don't have the time to do right now. Also thank you for giving me the bug, I have fixed it, just need to export the game again.

Very nice little game and seeing a Godot Game is alway a pleasure . I would say that less level with better level design would have been better (but level design in such a little amount of time is always hard...). Good job for this first submission !

Nice game! The length and difficulty are actually really good. I found it challenging but not so much to annoy me, and I managed to beat the game. I'm glad there's a good amount of gameplay, with the multiple keys and tiles that you can stand on 2-3 times. The only critique I have is the art. The background was pretty boring, and if you changed it to a different color and added a particle system/some sort of animated background, I think the game would have looked a lot prettier. Overall, you did great work!

A bit too simple for a puzzle game but for a gamejam game it's not too bad

The music needs a bit of work but I found the gameplay quite fun! I really enjoyed this one.

A classic, but it work well for this jam.
Like it was said, the level design is not realy chalenging, you already had traced the only possible path, the player just had to follow it.
The square level is interesting, nothing is traced, the player need to find the right path to the end, and passing on all the keys, without cuting his way.
But that's not bad for a jam submission :)

I've seen this type of concept done before in the past, but this one is done very well! The level design is simple but fun, and I would love to see more levels from this game in the future, as well as some better art. Great job :)

Solid game!
Nothing groundbreaking innovative, but properly made. Levels are fair. Those stages with double/triple blocks are rather easy to navigate, so I liked that one square stage, where the course was not as clear :)

Well done!

A pleasant puzzle, playing it safe with the mechanics. Tried and true they might be I haven't actually seen this puzzle genre in a jam before so, points there?

Most of the levels are very easy which is down to the linear'ish layouts as pointed out by others. The very last level offers a glimpse of greatness, more of that sort of thing; puzzles are deductive logic challenges after all.

Walking off of tiles into oblivion doesn't add anything except a punishment for input mistakes. Removing this possibility and adding a restart hotkey would be an improvement. The levels look tiny confounding the issue, zooming in the camera is in order.

The audio-visuals could use a lot more work. A quick breakdown of the title image:
- 3 different pixel sizes
- Alpha blending in the brown blob
- Unappealing colors (poison green, barf brown and *you know what* yellow!)
- Clearly hand written text (using fonts is allowed in the compo)

When it comes to music, the different instruments don't follow they same scales and seem to break harmony too. I advice looking up scales, picking one ([C Major](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_major) being the easiest of them all) and sticking to it

Solid programming, less than stellar presentation. Concentrate on that!

Fun: *Above average (3.5)*

Audio: *Terrible (1.5)*

It was very fun that good tempo to clear stages. The music is unique and stuck in my head! Nice work!

Simple puzzles but fun nonetheless. There is a lot of wasted space on the screen so I would increase the size of the tiles. Falling of a corner I think is a pain that shouldn't be there. Also, work on reducing the number of tiles and adding different types. Make it a smaller, more dense experience. I think that would help in readability and add less needless moving.

@huvaakoodia I agree with most of your points and I will try to improve myself a lot. This was my first submission and the biggest problem was making somewhat fun levels, but I quite enjoyed the colors, so I'll think about them a little more. I have absolutely no knowledge in music, so it probably came out much worse that I expected. Thank you for your criticism

I also didn't think about pixel sizes and blending at all. When I checked, it was pretty horrific, I agree.
