Greenwood P.I. by JoshDBB

[raw]
made by JoshDBB for LD35 (JAM)
A noir mystery, on the rocks, with a twist.

Don the battered hat of a hard-boiled, chain-smoking, tough-as-nails private eye - as he grills the local inhabitants regarding a recent murder, along with their secrets and vices.

Many thanks, and apologies it's not exactly as complete as we'd hoped.

-EDIT Added a 'The End' screen to let the user know that the game has finished.

-EDIT It seems that the HTML5 version of the game isn't appearing for some people. I'm currently investigating.

Great mood and love the writing style. Is there no ending ? I got stuck at a constantly repeating message on black screen.

I think it's very neat you used real looking pictures and made an animal forest. It has a good atmosphere and nice dialogs.

The most photorealistic game of LD35!

btw,
I didn't see the HTML5 version of the game. Why don't you embed it here?

@varuns Thanks for playing! The HTML5 version should be at the top of the itch page in the link, it can take a little while to appear. I would embed it here but the ludum dare site only allows games that are max 900x600 so this game wouldn't fit (1024x640).

Well done in getting so much content in so little time. The usage of photo's of real scenery gives the game a real unique look. Very cool! Would work well as a mobile game too. Perhaps try and release it?

Oh this was very fun! Reminds me of classic point and click adventures, but adult noir style. Nice job!

This was fun! Using the photos is a good idea and works well with the story. I always respect making a point and click adventure for LD :) The ending was a bit abrupt though.

It's a shame the story ends so abruptly, but what is there is fun and really well written. The visual style is great as well.

Very fun game with good and funny dialogs, I really enjoyed it! it's a pity it stops so abruptely though just when the link to the theme is mentionned

You had me at the decision to call the frog Freddo. Christ.

I am amused that another entry is also a comedy detective noir leaning on the 20s slang; though your use is much broader and consistent than my own.

There might be an issue with event flagging? I talked to everyone before I spoke to Sailor Jerry (I didn't realise I could click on the sewer pipe) and so his dialogue made a lot less sense in places.
