Soul Crucible by Eli Delventhal
Story
In Soul Crucible (renamed from "Hero Souls"), you are the overlord of a kingdom that has been possessed by evil. Your final village is about to be destroyed when you decide to do the unthinkable – unlock the power of the legendary Soul Crucible, a relic of dark power. With it, you think you just may be able to save your kingdom from the forces of evil.
The Soul Crucible combines rare gems and a rarer resource still – souls, to create ultra power artifacts.
To conquer the evil of the 9 realms in your land, you will have to send many heroes. Will they go to their death, so you can gain their valuable soul, or will they be outfitted well enough to conquer what awaits?
Gameplay
Simple clicky chill game. Manage resources, send guys on quests. Enchant gear.
Didn't have enough time to draw nearly as many enemies etc as I wanted, or backgrounds, or any of that stuff, but so it goes.

One major feature that I think is missing is a "Bestiary" that tells you the stats of stuff you've faced. As it stands, you sometimes get only a flash if you get killed very quickly. There are also balance issues in here, for sure, although it's all beatable if you do the right combination of stuff.
Also, the original idea was to have a whole lot of heroes all doing lots of things at once, being able to recover lost items, etc but all that got cut to keep the scope down.
Note that I fixed a bug post-compo that a reviewer called out – there was just the wrong number on some of the level data. Since I had less than 48h to work on this anyway, I just replaced the existing build with that very quick fix version.

Enchantments guide
(spoilers, use only if you want to):
I planned for complicated recipes but I just nixed them because I didn't have time to explain them really. So, put gems of a single type in there, 1-4. If you put 4, you get the most powerful that sort of element, 3 is less powerful, 1 is least powerful. If you combine types, it will just make the best enchantment it can and won't use extra gems provided. Simple. Combine slots to get multiple defenses, but you can only have one sort of attack. New enchantments will replace previous ones in the same slot, even if they're weaker or the same. You need 1 soul per enchantment.

Well done!
@luker128 Yeah, I was planning for a quest that just gains you souls, but never got around to it. I agree it's a bit slow.
By the way, is there any way to get defense against normal attacks?
