Running In To Space by icefox

[raw]
made by icefox for LD 42 (COMPO)

rits.png

You are an astronaut trapped on a remote planet, and need to run your way into orbit! Basically an infinite-runner with obstacles you need to jump over. The timing gets harder the faster you go, naturally.

Not actually quite done, but close! There's no win condition detection, and there were supposed to be more levels and different hazards and such. It's proooooobably winnable.

Written in Rust using ggez.

Install instructions: Just download the zip file for your platform and run the exe! On Linux you might have to install SDL2 for your platform, and maybe also libasound2... and other random junk.

Build instructions: See Github readme page.

Also shout out to EatThePath who kept me a little saner than I would otherwise be during this compo. Check out his game!

It's a little fun game, but it really needs a win condition.

need polishing as well, but I think is ok for a Compo entry :)

The idea fits the theme.

Thanks for your work and have a nice day!

The whole going around the planet makes this game a lot more interesting. We'd love to see an update on it! Good job!

2 frame animation looks bad. First time I launched the game I started inside a crate. The game is nearly impossible to play well because you can't see what is coming and you don't control where you'll land. I like the idea of running to try to escape the planet gravity, but since it's not really possible in the game, that falls flat.
