About

A Fight on the Waves is an unpolished, autoscrolling boss fight. Dodge from island to island as the space you have to maneuver shrinks. Destroy the boss before you fall prey to it!

Can't execute the Windows executable! Maybe it's for x86-32bit only?

I can't play your game because Windows says some libraries (VCRUNTIME140_APP.dll and MSVCP140_APP.dll) are missing.
Can you help?

Even though the game is very simple, the dashing and reflecting mechanics are very satisfying to use and I have no problem imagining how you could expand on it and make a more fleshed out game !

Unfortunately, the game suffers from a severe lack of polish ...

A nice little game anyway !

@the-triumvirate @steffo @tontonpizza @skyrex Windows version should be good to go? Godot changed the export templates to .appx by default and broke all my export scripts :( Sorry about that! Let me know if it still doesn't work.

I love the overall mechanical structure! The dash and shoot gameplay can lead to some great moments of tension when you're trying to escape enemy bullets or traverse terrain. I do think the balance is a bit off, as the game felt incredibly easy until I got stuck on an island I had no chance of getting off of thanks to the rubber-banding death wall. However, it was still very enjoyable and the graphics and sound have great charm to them! Definitely could see this being developed out into something more!

Gameplay was unique and very fun! Liked that there was also a boss fight, but I was able to beat the boss before any islands became smaller, so the theme wasn't as obvious or represented in this game.

i liked the art and the mechanics. it all seemed pretty smooth. Gameplay was a bit repetitiv.
Overall a solid entry.

@markopolodev Thanks! I was finally able to play your game.

I enjoyed it! The bullet hell / endless runner / parkour combination worked well!

The only major flaw I found was that the islands loop too quickly...
I think it could be solved by randomizing the terrain placement.

Anyways, well done :)

I had to restart the game if I died, I don't know if it's normal.
Anymay it's a good game, and the idea to have smaller islands to reach the boss is very good.
Good job !

Nice work, dashing across islands was fun, although I didn't like that you had to do the tutorial again whenever you died.

Found this via a stream. Love the graphics (lightning and colours are impressive) and feel of this game. Great sound too.

I think the colors in the game, although they go together, didn't have enough pop to it to say something needs attention from players. For example, here the HP indication on top right and bottom don't pop up from the rest of the scene as they should, because players need to pay extra attention to them. The boss color blends in with the water as well. The player is good though as you can tell it stands out of everything else. I really like the design and the animation, thats why I go a bit overboard with the color scheme because I thought it doesnt stay up there with the design. Overall, a very solid entry! Good job!

Edit: Btw, this is not to say that I dont like the graphics, I love it though, not bad score I swear haha. Also nice tutorial.

Dashing was fun but it was difficult to orient myself especially aiming at the enemy and where i wanted to dash. Islands that were placed diagonally seemed unnecessarily hard to get to, that being said dashing across the islands while dealing with the boss was definitely i think you should lean into that gameplay more the game is at its best when played at a high tempo

Hey, I played your game and thought it had a really nice mood to it, with pleasant colour palette, graphics and audio. The only thing I didn't like about the gameplay itself is how I couldn't walk and shoot at the same time :) However, I stumble upon a bug I think - I got stuck on one island and died there, which caused me to see this with no possibility to restart/quit the game:

I like this dashing/teleporting ability you gave to the character, i find it pretty badass and, though i'ts very simple, very satisfying to use.
I can easily imagine this game being a boss battle of a bigger entire game (and well, i think a jam game is very good when it manages to do this, to make us want a bigger and better game with the same concept). The way the music is adapting to the action is also pretty nice

Also, i didn't immediatly understood the link with the theme, but it comes from these little islands and the dashing ability. We have to handle the character's space without getting hit by the boss or by the wall
