Zombie Wackers by CG_Fred

[raw]
made by CG_Fred for LD 42 (JAM)

This game is all about wacking zombies. It's a mix between platformers and 2D shooters.

Controls: WASD to move, space to jump. CTRL to fire or use mouse button. I recommend gamepad for this game.

I enjoyed this game although the controles are a little bit too rigid, but not a big deal

thumbs up for the voice record "zombie" ^^

The feel of the game was really nice, cool graphics and fonts. I really liked how you had a tutorial that was simple, fun, and in a minute or two you learned how to play the game!

The game itself was fun and a bit too challenging for me, but it was really awesome and would be a fun speed-run type game!

I see someone has also watched the art of screenshake by vlambeer ;) (I can't really blame you it's one of my favourites too) it's nice to see that you've incorporated a lot of the game juice ideas presented in that. The art could have used a bit more work, but you still managed to make an enjoyable challenge. Good job, I hope you keep developing your skills and are able to apply what you know into other genres in future.

Not a bad game and great music! Music is similar to the crossing of the "Seven Nation Army" and "Mission Impossible Theme". What if you make more scatter bullets when the main character is hungry by the brain.

Thanks for the awesome feedback @tontonpizza & @lonehearts & @jesterseraph will make some changes as you suggested in the future.

@historymaker118 sure did :) Always wanted to make a Vlambeer style game and this was my first attempt :)

Running out of 'space', haha! this game has loads of nice little touches in it, from bullets sending you backwards to the use of physics with spent ammo and corpses. I also like the tutorial and how you dealt with the main menu. I found the permadeth quite frustrating, especially since the death screen was so long.

Thanks for playing the game @big-cow and thanks for the feedback. @bog13 thanks the game over messages was the last feature I added but I liked how they turned out.

Thanks @cristihkj

I didn't get the running out of space idea at first, but that's because I missed the tutorial haha. Once I got it though I found it very creative. I like the game, but one touch kill on zombies makes it very hard. I enjoyed this

Thanks for playing the game @zicboy and glad that you liked it :)

Yeah I wouldn't rate the Theme so high myself but in the end I'm happy that I did something different instead of just making another space game.

Great job introducing the mechanics! I especially like that you have to use the wall jump mechanic to progress and you could have just done that from the start with no hand holding. I really like this game! Some nice polish :) Well done!

Pity I couldn't try this game, HTML5/Linux only :(

Yeah sorry about that @blinkenlights the HTML build turned out very bad so I skipped it and didn't have time to figure out how to do a Linux build.

I like the sticky wall control - it makes me want to attempt a more classic platformer too =) I also thought it was fun to see the bullets rack up and the recoil pushing you back! It didn't keep my attention for too long though, I mostly stayed in the corner with the fire button held in spawn killing like a n00b =)
