CoinThief by EveVal

made by EveVal for LD 40 (JAM)

You're here for the coins, not that trash compactor of a security system.
Better run though, because every coin you grab speeds that system up.

See how many coins you can collect and how fast you can escape!
Challenge yourself to see how few coins you can collect!

Pesky momentum, gets me every time! Definitely going to come back to this one in a few days and try for a lower score.

This is great! Really excellent use of the theme. The other reviewers mentioned the momentum being difficult and that's definitely true, but it also adds to the challenge. I really like the feeling of collecting a bunch of coins on the elevator going up as the trash compactor moves faster and faster to catch up. Nice work!

Great level design and good game concept. My one problem with the game is that the controls are a bit strange. This might just be a personal preference but your jump speed is slow and pretty high. It feels unnatural to have a slow jump speed that goes very high. This might be the point of the game but I have played a lot of 2d platformers and none of them have jumping mechanics like your game has.

Overall nice work.

Similar minded thinking here ;) I like the twist of speeding up. I found the controls sticky and icy at the same time. Meaning, the character felt like he had to grind to get moving and once he moved it was like if I was on ice trying to stop and then stopped on a dime. lol Makes it a little hard to enjoy the platforming since we are used to more responsive control. Still, you have a solid project here that with a bit more tweaking on the controls would make it even more enjoyable. Nice work
